Just curious if the Slade would be cool enough to game. I'll be using a 980ti?

Hi Kenneth Hiles.....Welcome to the forums.
The Slade, Corsair 550D, will be just fine with the recommended setup, meaning the 120mm cooler and a single reference 980ti. It is a closed case with it's top and side acoustic panels remaining on but it still has decent airflow. The only setup that might cause a problem is if you went with the 980ti Strix for example that has the multi fans that will dump most of its heat into the case. An sli setup with Strix I wouldn't recommend. The reference 980ti has a single cooling fan that exits the heat out the back and out of the case. You can always remove the top and side covers to add fans but then the quietness the Slade is known for is reduced. Hope this helps. Edited by bprat22 - 24 Aug 2015 at 8:02am |

Thanks for the quick response. I already have the EVGA 980ti sc, (single fan) so will configure something over the next few days.

I just ordered a Slade with the 980ti to replace a gaming rig I'd built myself 5 yrs ago, and spent a few days doing research before ordering.
Using a Slade for gaming depends entirely on the GPU setup you choose. Quite simply, the 980 ti is THE BOMB. It's only superceded by the Titan. Don't know how FuryX will compare performance-wise; except that it's a power hog. Suspect that the FuryX is merely playing catch-up to the 980 & 980ti With Win10 and a Skylake i5 or i7 --which together support DX12-- a Slade built around the 980 ti is future-proofed for the next generation of games (i.e., 2-5 years), and has 4K capability. If you've got a >750w PSU you can always in future upgrade: SLI a second 980ti, add a faster Skylake, add more 2400MHz RAM. I'd considered SLI'ing a pair of 970's instead of the 980ti, 'cause the performance is slightly better with some games. But the setup consumes more power, and SLI doesn't support quite a few of the older games I'm fond of. |

I'd go with a single card as some games don't like sli.
