I do gaming [newest] Crysis, BF3, etc. mainly.
However, I also do video and photo work. My
piece of crap Dell XPS i7 Sli PC is about dead,
so I want to get something I can upgrade in the
future without all the proprietary build limitation(s).
(I might add I'm not necessarily a extreme gamer though)
Thanks for any ideas - advise you might have.

Hi tfrank48,
That is not a middle of the road system. You left that behind when you went with the X79 platform. That is for a 24" or samller monitor. We need to know the resolution of your monitor or any future monitor you might buy for this computer? Is this going to be a gaming computer or do you use it for other things that requires a lot of computing power? Frank |

First, thanks for a speedy reply.
My monitor is a 24" 1920x1200 [native] rez. I doubt I will go any larger than 26" and will likely stay with the 24" ; other than maybe a 3D display. Basically, would this be above or below middle road then [as listed]? My previous processor is a i7 920 @ 2.67GHz (not over clocked) in a Dell XPS with 1gb nvidia SLI 9800 GT cards bought 3 years ago. Their system(s) are so proprietary & there is no upgrade ability. Typically, I buy a PC with (much) more power than needed at that time. I use my pc for gaming, video & photo editing generally. I want to have the ability to upgrade to any new mobo, chipsets tri/sli and such, but I don't have to have the full set of cutting edge just hardware now. I would certainly like to have a nice upgrade from from my old junky XPS system. Any advice on the build components [or other] is appreciated. Thank you Frank. |

Hi tfrank48.....Congtats on your order. The changes you made to Cpu cooler and mobo were good. I would suggest you change, and you still can, the psu to 1050hx and overclock to stage 2 ...The 1050hx is perfect for your sli 570 and the HX series has a 7 year warranty, indicative of its quality. The H100 cooler gives you the room to Oc to stage 2 safely and like a boost in horsepower. Either way, the build will be great for your monitor and resolution. Good luck

Chances are very good you'll have zero problems with the DS psu. Best of luck and let the waiting continue.

Hi tfrank48,
Sorry but I missed this thread after my first post. Wife was probably after me to go some where. You did a good job with what you ordered. With the 1200w PS you are good to go if you every wanted to do Tri-SLI. Frank |

Hey Frank,
Wondered what happened to you.
I'm a pretty good go_fer for my wife too.
The possible Tri-SLI config was the main
reason for the upgrade. (just in case)
Catch you later, Tommy
