I recently purchased a computer here, and I am attempting to overclock the CPU. I'm a pretty big noob when it comes to PCs (been Mac most my life) so all I'm trying to do is use the preconfigured Asus Optimized setting and the XMP and TPU (1) switches on the motherboard (X-99 DELUXE). However, no matter what I do, after clicking "save and exit" my computer goes black. Only after powering off/on the computer again do I get the "OC failed" message.
I've tried using the EZ tuner and even after that, I get the overclocking failed message. The ONLY thing I can think of at this point, is needing to move the CPU over voltage jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3. Before I do that, I wanted to check here since increasing "voltage" isn't something I want to incorrectly mess with. But perhaps that is what is blocking any OC? Any insight would be much appreciated. |

What Computer did you buy? What type of cooling do you have? What are the specs to your PC. Give me something to work with here. Until we do that, do the following.
First things first: Let's pull out the motherboard manual and reset all switches and any jumpers you might have moved back to their default states. Don't hard switch XMP or anything. We will cover all of that in the bios. Next, let's go into our bios and reset/restore everything back to factory settings. **** Now, if you paid for DS to overclock it and you wanted to push it further, give them a call to reapply your OC settings. We want to reset everything back to it's default settings because at this point there is no telling what all has been messed up. Once you answer my questions at the start and do what I listed in resetting the bios and the switches/jumpers back to their default positions, we can move on to the next step. Please for the love of god, don't touch your voltage, don't touch anymore jumpers... and to repeat myself, don't touch anything that in terms of voltage. |

I want to meet this wise man.
As Dr. Sheldon Cooper once said; "Who is wiser? The person coming to the wise man for advice or the wise man." |

I had a friend who just experienced this exact same thing. It was his ram not seated properly. After he re-seated them he was able to OC back to his 4.7 and away he went.
