Alas my saga with the Krypton laptop continues...

My lcd screen appears to be shorting out and is near death and I am looking to replace it myself (to save money on a machine that has been very troublesome)

Can anybody verify the chasis/part used is the Clevo p170sm?

Please help.

I'm pretty sure its the Clevo P177sm, Sager 8298.

 To be 100% sure, either Alex will chime in or call DS.

Should have posted this originally from my order

Chassis Model: Digital Storm Krypton 17.3 Inch Laptop (Model: S:8295)

I spent about an hour searching for the correct clevo part and I have seen a lot of conflicting results... though the parts look the same... Including P177 and P170 both sm and sm-e's. Hence part of my confusion

Still think its the P177sm but I would verify with DS before ordering the part.  Not sure what the differences are between them.  I think its mainly cosmetic, but that could include the keyboard but probably not the screen.

Exactly. I want to be absolutely sure.

EDIT Got a hold of customer support and they verified the part as a panel with compatibility with the Sager NP8295 model with 40 pin connector.

UPDATE: received my new panel... I've been misled... the NP8295 does not work.

Even though Digital Storm techs verified the compatibility... They were wrong.

If ANY DS employees see this. PLEASE find out the right version. I will also be contacting support about reparations.
