Hello all!

So a friend has asked me to fix a faulty fan on their *Secret Not-Really Competitor Name Removed* Ultrabook. Sadly it's out of warranty and you know the drill, the manufacturer wants a small fortune to do anything with it. I opened it up and while tiny, it looks like any other standard fan replacement (e.g. not soldered onto the board). However, I've never been one to work on laptops.

Aside from going through the manufacturer and paying a boatload for this fan, does anyone have any suggestions on places to acquire third party laptop parts? (Aside from the obvious ones, like Ebay).

I did the obvious Google search for laptops parts and the list goes on, but they seem pricey.

Maybe a local repair shop will sell just a fan? Best Buy or the Geek Squad desk?

Thats all I heve.

Amazon, under Replcement Laptop Fans, has a good selection for about $10 give or take.    Looks like the fans I've ripped outof units.   Easy work.

Have fun.
