I have a Vanquish II level 3 about a year old. Is there a way to lower the case fan noise?
Thanks |

Hi wspanic1013..... If the fans are plugged into the motherboard, which they probably are, there are a couple of ways.....
Go into Bios, DEL key on boot, and in the EZ screen you'll see the fan adjustment box. Or, In the Advanced screen, under Monitor tab, you can use Q-fan and the individual chassis fans to adjust. Also..If its an Asus mobo, use AI Suite, Fan Xpert to adjust the chassis fans. Not sure its installed but if not, use the mobo disc or online to get it. Good Luck. |

Hi - I changed the fan speed to quiet in the BIOS but it did nothing. Any other ideas?

If the rpm actually lowered with your adjustment, meaning the adjustment worked, then not much you can do short of replacing them with quieter ones. The fans will make noise normally but its subjective so we can't say if jts normal or not.

Hi wspanic1013,
If the speed didn't lower when you made the change you might have to save the change in the Bios before you exit. Frank |

I'm thinking the fans are probably voltage regulated and not PWM. In that case, for ASUS motherboards at least, the BIOS will only allow the voltage to go down to 60%. You will need to do as bpratt mentioned and use the Fan Xpert utility (install with the motherboard driver disk you got with your computer). Fan Xpert will test to see the minimum voltage the fans will run on and then allow you to customize the fan profiles.
On both Fan Xpert and in the BIOS, you can also have the fans completely off by checking the auto-fan stop. That way when the temperature is lower than a certain value, the fans won't be running at all. |
