Topic: Marauder Level 1 Overheating issues Posted: 30 May 2013 at 5:53pm |

Hi my name is Julio Chavez, I purchased Marauder level 1 gaming computer around October. Up until now I have yet to experience any problems with it what so ever, however since last night my computer has over heated on multiple occasions. The only game I play is League of Legends and never had I experienced any sort of problems while playing that game until last night. This morning I turned my computer on after having it rest over night however after 5 minutes of it running Google chrome it once again overheated. I decided to clean the fans thoroughly and have another house fan point towards the Computer to help out the system but regardless once again after 5 minutes of browsing the internet the computer once again over heated. I've only had this system for 8 months and have taken extremely good care of it. Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue? Any help I can get from the forums would be appreciated

Could you post your temps to show what's overheating? A screenshot of your computer running Hardware Monitor (a program) would be great.

I believe the Tj max, max temp, for the fx-4100 is 70c. You're real close with that snapshot in time. I would make sure the cpu cooler fan is running, even though HWMonitor shows it is, check your case fans and make sure the cpu cooler is mounted snug to the motherboard. Maybe new thermal paste between the cooler and cpu is needed but not sure.
What's your room's ambient temp? If its high 80s+ then that might be the difference between then and now. |

I might go into the bios settings and see what the fan settings are.
I know on my system the fan settings did not have the motherboard speeding up the fans as temperatures got higher. I assume this was to keep the computer quieter. I changed those settings and my readings went down. Might be worth a fast check first. You could also call DS if you want them to see if they can help you out. |

So i cleaned the computer up, change the speed of my fans to the max moved the case around for more air flow and still it overheats. I can buy a fan or two but im not even sure if theirs prongs for the fans to connect too

Your system is not overheating, your temps are perfectly fine. It is most likely something else such as a bad memory stick or software/driver issues that might warranty a fresh install of Windows if they cannot be resolved with updates.
I suggest running the built-in Windows memory test to see how that goes, guide here and scroll to the bottom: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer If that turns out good, then it could be an OS related issue, try to update your graphics driver. If that still does not fix it, does it happen with other games or one? |

I upgraded my graphics driver 2 days ago, i ran the memory test and everything turned out fine. The problem happens with LoL but it has happened while just browsing the internet or watching a video.

I would call DS tomorrow and see what they have. Its difficult troubleshooting over the forums. Real time discussion and the tools they have is what is needed.
Good luck and let us know. |

I called earlier this week and was told that cleaning out the case would fix the issue but it hasn't at all. Should I call once more tomorrow or make a ticket

Call them back and tell them cleaning the system didn't do it. Tell them your temps and the symptoms. They'll probably have you run some tests to pinpoint the issue.
You're under warranty and they will work with you. Sometimes troubleshooting can be time consuming. I worked with customers over the phone for decades on call avoidance trying to save a service call and get them up and running quicker. Not always easy but DS is good. Did you happen to upgrade your video drivers to Nvidia version 320.1? If so, that may be a problem, I hear that that driver set is causing problems. You might try rolling back to the older set and see if that fixes it.

Yep, his is a different version. The HWMonitor screen shot posted gave it away.
Thanks. |

The team might have suggested this because you said your system was overheating, and built up dust is one of the main reasons for a system that is older than a year. |
