My wife has a pc with a GTX 1060. She needs a new monitor. She wants a 27 inch monitor with a $500 budget. Any ideas on what would be a good monitor for the 1060?

She is a light gamer, with Farming Simulator 17 being her most detailed game.

Or would she better off upgrading to a GTX 1070?

I haven't checked out monitors in a long time but the Asus brand has been getting good review.  I have a Dell Ultra Sharp for the past 6 years and love it.

For the gtx 1060, stick with a 1920x1080 IPS if you can.  It'll be way under your budget.  Big%20Smile

The IPS gives you better colors than TN.  TN tends to be faster , but monitors are blurring the difference now, both getting better.

Your wife is a light gamer so she'll love it.   The gtx 1070 would be if she played the graphics heavy shooters, games like Prey or Witcher on Ultra,  etc or went with a 1440p monitor.

Good luck. Big%20Smile

look into the Acer Predator line as well.  they have a multitude of good options at good prices (lower than Asus for the most part).  the 1060 is mainly optimized for maximizing 1080p, but you can stretch to 1440p, just don't expect to run every game at max graphics settings all of the time.  there are different sizes and configurations with lots of choice at either resolution for you to find what works best for your needs.  screen size doesn't change the pixel density (that's resolution).

if you want a more panoramic view while gaming look into their ultra wides (with models even at 1080p) available with TN or IPS/VA panels.

it really just comes down to your wallet size and needs/desires with monitors as there is something for everyone these days.

my current main monitor is an Acer Predator XB271HU model 1440p 27" IPS w/G-sync.  excellent quality imo.
