ok new computer FINALLY arrived and i am gonna need a wee bit more advice. Lets get one thing up and running at a time though lol
so i have two monitors. a old Dell ST2420L and a new ASUS VS278Q-P http://www.asus.com/us/Commercial-Monitors/VS278QP/overview/ I am having a devil of a time getting the ASUS to work. everything i have tried results in a no VGA error on the screen then it goes black. In windows person thingy where you set up multi monitors it is showing that it sees the monitor or at least a monitor. My system has the GTZ1070 card on it. i have the old Dell monitor running off the DVI to HDMI computer to monitor. but it seems whatever port i try and hook up the ASUS to i just get no vga found. What am i doing wrong here. |

Check your input on the monitor and make sure it coincides with the port your connecting the monitor to, in other words if you are using hdmi, then make sure the input of the monitor is set to hdmi also.

Make sure you're using just the video card ports and not the motherboard ports. Some of the card's ports might have plastic caps on them.

i just set up my Bolt 3 with a 1080 card. It only had one HDMI port and the other three were displayports. If both monitors are HDMI only, you might have to get a displayport to hdmi converter.

This... so much this. Lots of times folks plug into the mobo instead of the gpu. I know it's silly, but double check anyway. |

Have you tried just the Asus to HDMI, no Dell?
You're going HDMI at the card to the 1070 HDMI ? Your card has a single HDMI and triple DP? Edited by bprat22 - 28 Aug 2016 at 10:20am |

How about the input button on the monitor? try pressing that. something is not right tho, you should see the menu when press it on the monitor no matter what you are connected to, that is the menu in the monitor itself it doesn't need anything else to come up. does this monitor work with another pc? |

Yeah, that's where I was going. If the Dell works in the HDMI but not the Asus then we've narrowed the problem.

Thats where I'm at I don't think its user error, but I also don't understand why logo comes up but no menu. Unless he need to press it as soon as the logo comes up and not wait. |

We need a beam-me-aboard option, where our physical presence is allowed for hands on.

hey look i never claimed to be the "PC Whisperer" lol
Ok i found the button on the monitor that allows me to switch channels. But in all fairness to myself the manual is not very clear on this matter. at least in English. So this is what happened. I got the monitor to work yes it is indeed working. However it wont allow me to use the two monitors together. It seems to get confused with two HDMIs. But i will try this again with a display port cable in a few days. |

I have read of others having trouble running two HDMI off the same card. Not sure if they got it resolved.
My only other thought, after checking monitor menu, is to install the latest drivers. Then the DP cable. Good luck. |

If the input options in the menu are no help then I would do as bp says and try db connection, you have one on the asus.

Nice. The HDD should be pretty straight forward. One of us can help if needed. Google can help, also. |

Yeah i had a 4TB HD from my old system. i have a lot of my music on it. It will be so much easier to put that in the system than pull all those CD's out and rip them again. that took forever. Plus it also has a lot of my graphics files so its a must. I see the sata cable im just not finding the other connection that goes in the drive.

you will find the power connection on the back of the pc if not just go to the extra stuff you got with the pc and a data cable should be there, just use that one. you can always copy that drive to a new drive on your system, if not make sure you backup that drive, once it goes bad you will lose everything on it. The power cable should be in the harness from the power supply.. DS might have it buried and try-wrapped behind the right cover for their nice, neat looking assembly.

You don't have molex to sata power cable there? anything that is like this:
white side is molex the black side is your sata power. If not then you need to purchase one, make sure you get one long enough to connect to the back but reach your hdd in the case, they are very cheap like $5. |

Then measure how long of a cord you need and then get a molex to sata power cable that long.
