Just turned on my new puter yesterday and i noticed that the motherboard does not turn off when i turn off the system. I think its the motherboard anyways....A ASUS Z170 Gaming. There are lights on the board and when the system is either on or off...it has these lights on the board that are on and then they fade off....lights on....then lights off....fading back and forth. Does the mother board ever shut down/off or is this normal?

Thanks

The z170 Pro Gaming mobo has product name and audio LEDs that stay lit. With power off, 5vdc is still supplied to the mobo, unless it's unplugged or power supply toggled off. The LED is an aesthetic thing. The 5 vdc allows the board to sense when power button is hit and USB wake, etc.

I believe it's normal.

Your mobo manual, under onboard led, should explain it . Loading AI SUITE from the disc allows you to turn it off if you want. Also in Bios.

Hope this helps.
