    Posted: 27 Sep 2015 at 1:03pm
Budget:
$4600 but i am willing spend more for a good monitor.
Expectations:
what i need this build to do is play 1440p games smooth no issues and also be able to play next gen games while also lasting me a long time.

Usage:
The only thing i will be doing with this is gaming i don't plan to do any editing

Special Needs:if possible i would like a quiet system. i would also like the build to include a 1440p monitor.
Thanks to anyone who helps :D.

P.S if you could keep the color scheme either red/white or red/ black i would appreciate it.

Liquid cooling the GPU will prevent throttling in the GPU under extended use.  A 980 Ti will give you excellent frame rates and the Swift monitor supports G-Sync to prevent frame tearing.  Keep in mind though, there will be an ultra wide 3440 x 1440 Swift monitor coming out soon...you may want to wait for that, although you may need to bump your GPUs up to dual 980 Ti's.

Reportedly sometime this month, so they only have a few days to keep their word.

projection is Q1 in UK/Europe, which means months later in the US.  if you can't wait that long for the Asus ROG, the Acer Predator X34 is currently being sold in the UK/Europe and should make it here in October.  they're basically offering the same features and performance: 34" curved IPS panels, up to 100Hz (overclocked) refresh, G-Sync, HDMI 1.4 and Display Port 1.2a interfaces.

The refresh rates may not be super high or you may need to slightly dial back on some of the graphics settings to achieve the performance you desire, so it isn't entirely necessary to get a second GPU. Some people expect to max out everything with their system and the hardware may not be quite up to the task. It really depends on the game you're playing, too. A single 980 Ti is very capable itself...trying to keep the frame rate at 100Hz may be difficult in some games, though, but may be just fine in others.

watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA6g5bK_0fE

it shows you what a single GTX 980ti and Fury X can do on an ultra wide (21:9 aspect ratio) monitor in both 1440p and 4k over a sampling of popular modern games.  you'll see frame rates drop into the low 20's at times.  on average they don't get any higher than 40's, with highs in the 60's.  more important than max or average fps is MINIMUM fps.

you can also see in the "frame time variance" graph where there are several cases of "dropped frames" which will show as stuttering/freezing in game.  what this doesn't show is micro stuttering.  in any case, you will need to sli even the top vid cards to get a consistently good visual experience at 4k.

at 1440p resolution a single 980ti or Fury X quite easily handles game content even on an ultra wide display.

as regards monitor choices:  i wouldn't buy any of these monitors on offer from DS.  if you want a great 1440p 27" IPS 144Hz gaming monitor, buy an Acer Predator XB270HU bprz G-Sync (~$800) online.  the Viewsonic 27" VP2780K IPS 4k ($990) is a well reviewed 4k monitor that can be used as a gaming monitor.
