Hey DS team!!
i've been looking into a new rig to finally upgrade my old 2600k, i looked into the lumas build but no processor goes to 7700k, i don't stream or anything. CPU: 7700k i7 4.2ghz CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken x52 Motherboard: Asus Maximus IX Hero Memory: G.Skill Tridentz RGB 4x8 GB DDR-3600 Storage: Samsung evo 960 evo 500gb Western digital Cavier Blue 1tb 3.5" 7200 RPM GPU: Gforce GTX 1080 TI 11GB FTW3 Hybrid Chasis: Corsair Crystal 570X Power supply: Corsair 860W 80+ Plat Certified. what do you guys think?? is it still worth to go with a 7700k and a 1080ti ?? Most rigs on the site are 6 core processors... Thanks in advance |

The Vanquish is the only DS selection for the 7700k, but so what ?
The new Coffee Lake 8700k beats the 7700k in most games I've seen tested and has a higher base clock. Win-win for gaming. Even when all cores kick in, the 8700k still stays at 4.3 or better on all cores. The added cores, 6 vs 4, in this case doesn't mean you're sacrificing gaming performance for multi tasking or streaming like in the past. What monitor resolution are you gaming on ? That determines the video card. The 7700k is still a great choice, lagging the 8700k by about 10% on average. New chips don't make the older ones no good. Edited by bprat22 - 16 Oct 2017 at 8:15am |

If you want it for Xmas I would order several weeks early. DS gets crazy busy around the holidays.
Yeah, I don't know about the new cards in 2018. |

Looking at 8700k processors what motherboard works for running sli 1080 ti in the near future? Most parts I'm looking at in my build aren't in DSs list like the nzxt kraken x52. Is there any way I can add that

All the mobos except the Asus Prime Z 370-p can sli. In the parentheses beside the selection will state non-sli, meaning only a single card, or say the number of Pcie cards.
You can have them special order any part you'd prefer, but there is added cost and might not be covered by their own warranty. Manufacturers warranty would still be good however. |
