Budget:
$2500-$3000 Expectations: I am trying to configure a computer solely for gaming that can play games like Warhammer Total War, Elder Scrolls, etc. at max settings. Questions: 1. I'll let DST4ME/Bpratt/Frank/db188 and other experts weight in.
but i'm in a similar situation as you, here's what i was "thinking of" in terms of cooling. 1447495 https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=1447495%20 Most notable is the noctua D15 + chasis mod fan cut out. I'm going to leave it to the guys to weight to see if this is a viable choice because the noctua D15 + mod will create a lot of airflow. I believe Noctua will fit the coridian as well. not sure if you want to overclock GPU tho Chassis Model: Digital Storm Coridium Core Components Processor: Intel Core i7 6700K 4.0GHz (Codename Skylake) (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING (Intel Z170 Chipset) (Up to 5x PCI-E Devices) System Memory: 16GB DDR4 2666MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series Power Supply: 850W EVGA SuperNOVA Storage / Connectivity Optical Drive: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (512GB Samsung 950 PRO) (NVM Express) (Extreme Performance) Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics / Multimedia Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce GTX 1080 8GB (NVIDIA Founders Edition) (VR Ready) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Digital Storm Engineering Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Noctua NH-D15 (Extreme Performance) HydroLux Fluid Color: - Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Chassis Mods: Fan Blow-Holes: CPU & Graphics Card Area: Laser Cut and Mount (2x) Side Window 140mm Fans Digital Storm TwisterBoost Technology Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU - Up to 4.8GHz (Depends on Cooling and Motherboard) Boost OS: Yes, Disable and tweak all of the non-crucial services on the operating system Edited by darbebo - 04 Jul 2016 at 9:05pm |

darbebo's build looks good, noctua for sure at that level, the Chassis Mods is optional, it will block some of the view but you got air right over the cpu and gpus, I go for the ladder personally.
Drop boost to stage 1 oc for gaming 4.4GHz is more then enough, but if you want to oc higher then go with hydrolux lite. Most of your noise is going to be from gpu's fans, when the gpu is under heavy load or oced, the fans will spin higher/highest and that noise will be loud to a certain extent, no louder then the next gpu. Only way to quiet the fans down is to lc all the parts. |

yea the cutout idea was from you DST4ME!!
would you rather have noctua + cut out or the corsair 280mm + cutout?. I am afraid the cutout fans would be touching the noctua... |

first of all, welcome to the DS family
i think you'll be pretty happy with that config. are you using an external storage solution for the rest of your non-gaming data? |
