Hi there, I bought a machince here once upon a time, I thought it's long over due that I upgrade now. I'm a first time poster on these fourms so please be nice.

Budget = $3,000

Usage = Stricktly hardcore gaming & general use (web surfing + music)

Desire = I want to be able to comfortably play StarCraft2 & GuildWars2 on maximum or next to maximum graphical settings. (either 1680x1050 or 1920x1080 resolution)

Any help, advice, or opinions are appreciated here. I have a few questions to start off.

1.) How could my gaming experience benefit from choosing the Deluxe X79 or Extreme X79 MOBOs over the Sabertooth X79?

2.)How does my PSU look for this? What if I decide to upgrade to a GTX 690 4GB or SLI in the future?

3.)Which hard drive set do you recommend?

4.)Under the extreme cooling option which is best for this the (240mm radiator liquid CPU cooler) or the (Noctua NH-D14)? And why?

5.)Would choosing the Zalman performance fans with the Corsair Carbide 300R
chassis model I have selected actually be of any benefit versus the stock fans?

Hey thanks! looks great, makes sense. I didn't realize X79 was totally unnecessary for my needs. I'm glad I didn't just go ahead and blow that money away without posting here first. What is the benefit of two hard drives? Obviously I assume the 120GB SS will be strictly for gaming and the other for everything else?

Would my performance benefit from the 2000MHz RAM versus the 1600MHz version.

Those that have gone to SSD swear they'll never go back.   The OS and games initially  loads alot faster.  The SSD would be used for Win 7 OS, ggames you're using the most and the HDD would be for older games, music, pics, downloaded files, etc.   The SSD isn't needed, a HDD would work great without it, but if it's in the budget then go for it.

DS will put the OS on the SSD as long as it's Drive 1, listed first.  If you put the SSD in drive 2 by mistake they's probably call ya just to be sure. 8GB is just all that gaming can use or access.  More than that just sits there.  Some games can not use more than 4Gb.

For most , the difference is the Deluxe has built in WiFi, so an additional wifi card isn't needed and the Extreme would be for those that want to tri-sli, 3x video cards.  There are more differences but you'd have to go into 'more info' or go to Asus website to get into detail and see if there's anything special you'd need.

Here is my build revised, a little over budget I will admit. I can't seem to find the 120GB Intel SSD only the 180GB version??? I'm customizing from the level 2 Dreadnought. Anyway here it is...
