Hello, I purchased my first ever gaming desktop PC from Digital Storm over the weekend. My config is below. I've been a console gamer all my life and only played a select amount of games on PC. I've always wanted a gaming PC just didn't have the $ to do so until starting a new job back in November. Highlights of my PC gaming career: Sim City 2000, Dune II, Dune 2000, C&C Tiberian Sun, Star Trek Online, Star Wars the Old Republic, Diablo III and a few indie games here and there (Gone Home the most recent) and some time with shareware Doom, Wolfenstein 3D and some bits of other games; StarCraft, Sims, RollerCoaster Tycoon and more.

I'm extremely excited to check out some of my favorite games that I have loved on consoles, now on the PC with high/max settings and full mod support! Far Cry 3 and 4, any Bethesda game, and Tomb Raider, are just a few.

So yeah, just wanted to say Hi!

Welcome to the PC world! I'm sure you won't be going back, especially with that pretty rig... So have you decided what will come of your consoles? Paper weights, or glorified dvd player? :p

Since you're a console gamer who's seen the light with a really sweet DS rig, I would be remiss if I didn't point out (Even though you probably already know this) that you can use console controllers to run PC games.

I have an Xbox controller that works really well for games like "Rocket League", but prefer the keyboard for Witchers and Fallouts.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I am not a complete PC noob. I know very well that controllers can be used on PC. 360 or Xbone controllers work well. I have an adapter that lets me use my 360 console controllers wirelessly via PC just haven't played many PC games with it. I wish the PS4 controller would work better. I hear that it is a pain to get working and not natively supported like 360/Xbone? Over the past year or so the PS4 controller is probably my favorite next to the 360 controller. I've been playing all my games on PS4 and my Xbone has been gathering dust (I've had lots of issues with that piece of garbage).

I do not plan on getting rid of my consoles any time soon, if ever. I will probably be more selective on which games I play on PC or on consoles. And there are still games that are console only that I enjoy.

Question though: Do I need to buy a DisplayPort cable or will the video card come with one? This connection type is completely new to me. The monitor I am purchasing has a DisplayPort and my understanding is that you get better frame rate and/or resolution with that than HDMI. I do not believe the monitor comes with a cord.

Graphics card don't normally ship with monitor cables.. Monitors do, but depends on the monitor as to what you get for a cable.
