Topic: New Gaming PC- 1080p or 2k, liquid cooled Posted: 23 Mar 2018 at 1:01pm |
Hello,
It's been 7 years since I purchased 2 desktops here. They are still running great but I want to buy a new one. My questions are how much work is the liquid cooling? I've never used it before and am curious about the Corsair 110i (and it says no maintenance). My second question is what gpu do I need to play max settings with 130+ fps for Final Fantasy 14 if I go the 2k resolution route? Would I need the 1080 ti? I am deciding between 1080p and 2k monitor, so I know if I do 1080p I will get the 1060 6gb. Any advice would be appreciated. Budget: S1500-2500 Expectations: I would like to be able to play Final Fantasy at full max settings. I haven't decided if I will be using 1080p or 2k. The all-in-one liquid coolers are no work at all. The only things can go wrong are a leak or the pump fails. Leaks are rare, and if one happens, the fluid is non-conductive. If the pump fails, your CPU will probably overheat and shut down without damage. In either case you're looking at replacement.
From what I could tell, it would seem the GTX 1080 could give you frames around 95 at 2k, so the 1080Ti would do better. Average Joe wouldn't see much of a difference, but you seem to know what you want to see. For your 1060 build, your ticket will do nicely IMO. |

Thank you for your response. I am still in the process of deciding because I saw on a competitor's website they have a build where you get:
i7-8700 ASUS GeForce® GTX 1070 Ti CERBERUS 8GB GDDR5 500GB Samsung 860 EVO Series 16 GB RAM for only $1847 and they give me on top of that: -Skorpion K2 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard -2 x $50 AMX gift cards -HyperX Cloud Drone Gaming Headset so it's a better value than what DS offers but I have had a great experience with DS in the past and want to support Digital Storm. So I am just in the process of weighing the pros and cons. Hopefully I can come to a decision soon lol. Thanks for your input, it was very helpful as I've no first hand knowledge of liquid cooling in the past. |

When you bring out the balance to compare, maybe you should look at their forum to see how they handle issues with their systems and give DS a lot of weight in that arena and then look at your systems and wonder if you want to try a "better value". I'm just saying.

I would also look at what some of the other components are in the system... Also what monitor would you be using at 1440P? I currently use an Acer Z35p (3440x1440 and love it) and wish I had a 1080ti (currently have 2x980ti's). I love how my monitor looks and plays. Also I can't say much on the AIO coolers. I have heard good things but I have grown to like tinkering with my setup...
