Topic: New gaming pc help Posted: 29 Sep 2016 at 8:00pm |
I've never had a gaming pc so I'm not exactly sure what to get. My biggest issue is I have $400 - $500 & I can only get it from walmart.com. Something I can play fps games like Halo(if anymore come out) & call of duty. Any suggestions?

Man that is tight, you are talking bare minimum and you can't build it yourself either I assume since you never had one.
Do you know basic stuff about a pc tho? like psu/cpu/ssd/ram/etc? |

can't build due to physical limitations. I have some pc knowledge, just not sure for gaming specific. I know I need at least 3.5 processor speed. It's the whole dual core, quadcore stuff that is confusing me. Ram speed, I'm assuming more is better? Graphics card, no clue.

Would I end up with a better system if I put it together myself? |

Ok the processor as you know is the brain of your pc, the stronger this is, the longer the pc will feel stronger. This can be its speed and number of cores.
right now for gaming a quad core is a good spot to be. ram speed above 2666MHz is not needed and even that depends on your setup. Gpu is based on the games and the res you want to run those games, for example if you wanted to play fallout at 1080p, you would want a 1060 or 1070 gtx. higher res means 1080 gtx or sli 1080 gtx depending on the res. What you are looking for here is 60 fps average to have a smooth gaming experience. What we recommend to people here mainly is 6700k/6600k, 16GB 2666MHz ram, for gaming at 1080p a 1060 or 1070 gtx, a 250GB samsung ssd (not all ssds are the same in quality and reliability), a good cpu cooler for oc. but all of that is way over your budget, however I hope it gives you an idea, you can go with 8GB of ram, you can skip the ssd for now and go with hdd, and etc. However as you know a full gaming computer for $500 is not gonna have great parts so expect a bunch of headache on your hand. to be honest at this level I find a friend to help me build it or build it for me. I would not feel comfortable recommending a pc for $500 to you and feel comfortable that it will give you no or very little headache. If you put it together yourself you have more choices but the parts are still gonna cost more then your budget I think. What games at was res are you planing on playing on this? I just threw somthing together real quick just to give you an idea not sure if they all match but you get the idea: if you go amd I'm sure you can make one for that price, but amd is not my cup of tea anymore. Assuming you have the peripherals and a monitor, in addition to DST4ME's build sheet you still need a case, cooler, and misc. for another 100 by the time you are done. You should try e-bay (maybe more selection than w-m) but ...........good luck.

Unfortunately I'm stuck with what I can get through Walmart.com. Would this work to start out with? https://www.walmart.com/ip/52171734 |
