Topic: New PC after moving accident. Posted: 22 Oct 2017 at 9:26am |
Unfortunately during my move my pc got damaged and now I need a new one. After years of scrapping them together I decided to finally get a DS that I’ve always wanted. I’m looking to game and stream on 1080 for now but would love the option to upgrade to 4K next year. Not sure if this realistic for this budget but definitely need advice!

Hi Possum..
Here's a build to check out. It gives you the latest 6 core cpu at a very good clock speed for gaming and streaming. For 4K gaming you want at least the gtx 1080ti and maybe an sli setup, meaning adding another 1080ti down the road for high to max graphics settings in games. This build has the mobo and the power supply to accommodate the extra 1080ti. If you stayed at 1080p or 1440p, then you could stay much closer to budget with a 750watt psu and a single gtx 1080 or 1070, 1070 for 1080p and gtx 1080 for 1440p. 4K high end gaming can get expensive. I added the Samsung 960 evo m.2 drive, which is more than the DS one, but you know what you're getting and has the better warranty. Thanks for the quick response bprat22. What edits would you make if I decided to stick to 1440 for budget constraints? Looks like I will have to debate to wait a couple months or stick with 1080/1440. Thanks for the help!

The edits would be the psu and gpu
https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=1761590 You could go with 1070 gtx and be fine also, price will be lower. Above has The 1080. Edited by DST4ME - 22 Oct 2017 at 11:10am |

This would be my pick for 1440p .
If you stay at a1080p Monitor then the gtx 1070 is all you need . The 750 watt G psu is fully modular, meaning all the cables are plug in for easier replacing if necessary and a Gold unit for better efficiency and warranty. If you have to cut more to meet the budget you could get the DS m.2 drive or even a Standard SSD . The regular SSD is plenty fast. Forget to mention...this case doesn’t have a built in optical drive. You can select an external in the configurator or get one yourself. With optical drives being less and less used, it’s becoming more popular.

Never thought I'd see the CD drive phased out, but lookee there, I survive for yet another obsolete technology. |

I still have 3.5 inch discs sitting in my pc table, just because. How many thousands of those 1.44 meg discs would it take to install Shadow of War at 60 gigs ? New sometimes is better.

Yes, and your build was the same as mine earlier before gpu, psu change. Let’s face it, mine just looks better. I was typing, pasting, posting before I saw your update. |

Somewhere in the deep recesses of an old home office, stacked ever so carefully on my MS-DOS 3.1 manual is my first back up files on 14 8" floppy disks. 8" floppies. |
