    Posted: 29 Oct 2015 at 9:27am
Hey I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the best choice would be, as far as 2 more sticks to bring my ram up to 16 from 8, and be the most compatible with the ones that came with it. I have the vanquish 3 lvl 3 with z97 board but it only says "8g ddr3 digital storm ram" on the specs, so I have no idea how to find the same ones to put in there :(... Thanks in advance anyone who can help!

Can you look inside the case at the actual RAM sticks you have? There should be a part number on there somewhere. DS sources a variety of RAM sticks, so there isn't a particular model we can say you have.

Edit: make sure if you need to touch around the electronic components to touch a grounded object to remove any built-up static charge in your body. You don't want to short a component.   If you need to remove a RAM stick to get a closer look, you want to press the tabs that swing out on either side of the stick...sometimes it is only one tab that moves, depending on the motherboard.

there should be a sticker on the outside of the heat spreader giving you the exact specs of the ram, unless of course DS didn't re-apply the label from the original kit onto their custom (or is that just a promo pic of the ram kit?) heat spreader.

Just make sure your memory matches in terms of speed (1600MHz and the timings match, CL11), you can purchase two more 4GB sticks.

i've run into problems with not posting when two exact ram kits were used and the only difference is the batch/sku. just an FYI in case you have issues after installing the new kit.  i had to buy a whole new kit with the capacity i wanted.

CPU-Z. under the memory tab can be used to check your ram timing/ latency, like 9-9-9-24 for example.     Try to match timing and voltage for less chance of issues. The Dram Frequency listed will be half of the actual, the DDR being double data rate and this program reporting the single.

ok so im pretty sure these are the same sticks i have, but just to have someone else look over it to make sure im not daft ^.^ my timing currently is 9-9-9-24, 1600mhz, 240 pin,cl9 and the same brand as the new ones, so this should be a perfect fit right?
