Topic: New Vanquish 3 level 3 Overheating Posted: 11 Jun 2015 at 6:44am |
So I finally received my computer yesterday. Came in perfect condition and it booted right up. Downloaded steam and started to play some rust. I noticed that the CPU was getting really hot by just touching the top of the case. I downloaded EVGA precision and found that the CPU was at 90 degrees Celsius. I pulled the side of the case to verify that the heat sink fan is running, it was. By playing around with the EVGA precision tool I'm able to keep it around 78-81 degrees, but this is just from running the game for 5 minutes! After this I deiced to open up the PC a 3rd time and just check that everything is seated correctly. That when I noticed that this computer only has 1 fan in the front of the case, the GPU fan and the heatsink's fan. I've never seen a PC build without an exhaust fan on the back of the case, can anyone else with a vanquish let me know if theirs has an exhaust fan? Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Which case do you have? The default 230T or the Alternate K380?
I'm guessing the Alternate K380. If it is, then that case does only have the single fan in the front and no rear fan. That's how the case is from factory. |

Yeah I got the alternate case. I wish I would have know this before I made the choice. Well looks like I'll have to buy a fan to exhaust some of that heat.

Under More Info below the case it does list only the single fan, but most miss the specs.
A 120mm side fan will help a lot as it'll blow fresh air onto the cpu and video card area. 90C does seem a little hot, although still safe. I'm not sure what to expect for temps from that case. An email or call to DS might help. They'll tell you what their testing shows. Good Luck. |

Your system should be running nice and cool. Did you remove any internal foam that might be inside? Check if the fan blades are spinning?
I suggest sending in a Request Help to our team or giving us a call so we can help figure out what is going on. |

So to anybody who may run into this issue we got it solved! I purchased the vanquish 3 and opted for the alternate case, which does not come with an exhaust fan. Digital Storm was great and sent me an exhaust fan for it free of charge. After installing the fan the CPU is 20-25 degrees cooler under a load. While previous the CPU was touching temps of 85-90 while gaming for a relatively short amount of time, now I'm sitting super cool at 60-65 after several hours of gaming. Anyone out there who get the alternate case, be sure to add an exhaust fan it will make all the difference!

Outstanding find and fix!
Perhaps DS will make it standard equipment on the alternate K380 case. Well done and now... game on! |

It does seem like DS is making a mistake with the K380 case. They see good temps at the factory with controlled environment. The case gets out into the real world and runs hot. We have seen this problem before. The K380 case needs that exhaust fan and I think it would be to DS's best interest to add one at the factory before shipping.

I gotta say that's pretty lackluster of DS for selling a computer without an exhaust fan. Big upps if they have added a standard exhaust fan even if it doesn't come with the case.
