Topic: New Vanquish lvl 4 Blue Screen Posted: 31 Aug 2013 at 2:52pm |
Aloha all,
So I am new to digital storm and to gaming computers (well anything above a cheap laptop) in general. I just got my new Vanquish lvl 4 yesterday and I am having a problem with blue screen. It started randomly happening yesterday and when I try to do windows updates it happens. Here's my system info: computer name: DIGITALSTORM-PC windows version: Windows 7 Service Pack 1, 6.1, build: 7601 windows dir: C:\Windows CPU: GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz Intel586, level: 6 4 logical processors, active mask: 15 RAM: 8525557760 total VM: 2147352576, free: 1933832192 and here is what WhoCrashed is telling me: On Sat 8/31/2013 12:10:41 PM GMT your computer crashed crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\083113-4633-01.dmp This was probably caused by the following module: hal.dll (hal+0x12A3B) Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA8007168028, 0xBF800000, 0x124) Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR file path: C:\Windows\system32\hal.dll product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System company: Microsoft Corporation description: Hardware Abstraction Layer DLL Bug check description: This bug check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred. This bug check uses the error data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA). This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem problem. This problem might be caused by a thermal issue. The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time. Any help to be able to fix this would be awesome. Thanks, LWS707 |

As with any system, the first thing to check is for any loose hardware or connections. Remove & re-seat GPU, RAM and any other add-on cards you might have. Then double check all power connectors (again unplug and re-plug to make sure they are fine).

Try turning off overclock and see if that helps, turn off the computer and turn it back on press the delete key repeatedly, press f5 to load defaults which disables overclock and f10 to save. See if that solves the BSOD

Thanks so much for the replies. I followed the guides instructions and I reseated everything it said to (which scared the crap out of me because I am not tech savvy and don't know much about computers as this is my first gaming desktop) I also turned off overclocking and so far i haven't had an issue with the blue screen again. Now if only my windows updates would stop failing lol. Not sure why that's happening.
Thanks again, LWS707 Edited by LWS707 - 31 Aug 2013 at 4:49pm |
