Topic: no video signal after installing liquid cooling Posted: 14 May 2016 at 3:15pm |
I lost faith in my old post so I'm starting a new one. I have a core [email protected] with a GTX 980 Ti Strix in an Apollo case with 16 GB 2800MHz ram and asus z170 motherboard. My cpu and gpu are hooked up to a Predator 360 liquid cooling system, brand new.
Recently I installed predator 360 cooling systems, upon successfully installing it, i turned on the computer, but there is no video signal. The keyboard and mouse lights are flashing, I can tell the liquid pump is moving. How do I restore the video? Thanks. |

Tough to say from here, but check that the Strix is seated correctly and its power cables from the psu are hooked up right.

i see 2 8-pin power connectors on the gpu, i think those are the only ones... unless i'm forgetting something. I think i'm going to try unseating the gpu and booting from motherboard video to see what happens, because that's worked before when I had this problem.

That was my next check. That way you can check that Windows is booting ok and everything else is working.

I removed the video card and plugged the monitor cable into the mb, turned on computer, still nothing. The hard drives are all plugged in.

Can you check the monitor somewhere else to make sure it works? Very rare for it to go at this time but......

Are the case fans turning on ? Is the PWR ready led on bottom of mobo lit?
Check the 8 pin plug above the CPU and 24 pin plug on the right for being seated correctly. Can you check the monitor elsewhere, or use a different cable ? Any chance you have an older video card you can try ? Without knowing what you did, this is all guess work. |

I did leave some thermal paste around the gpu core, (the green circuit board part) without cleaning it up, i hope that didn't damage anything? I hope i didn't excessively touch the gpu too much when I was putting the waterblock on it.

although I do remember I accidentally made a tiny scratch on the video card, the very outer edge. It didn't even look like there was anything important on that part of the video card, but perhaps that damaged it somehow?
