Ok, time to put the diagnosis dr hats on.
I have two monitors, the main 1920x1080 (1) and a secondary 1600x900 (2). They are hooked to my GTX770 via DVI cables on both. As you know the GTX770 has it's DVI ports one above the other. When I got home this morning I fired up the machine and monitor #2 was receiving no signal. Monitor #1 is fine. After checking the power, connections, etc I found no reason why it shouldn't be on.... so, I played with the cables. This is what I found: 1 on top, 2 on bottom ... no signal on 2, 1 is fine. 2 on top, 1 on bottom ... both getting signals 1 alone, top or bottom ... getting signals 2 alone, top or bottom ... getting signals The only thing I didn't test is pulling the DVI cables from the monitors and checking them with each monitor... I will do that when I get a some time off to really get in there and test around. So, any ideas on why #2 doesn't want to work on the bottom connection if #1 is plugged in? ( My first thought was that its jealous. ) |

That is... very interesting. The fact that if you move 1 to the bottom that it still gets signal took out my first guess of a "Secondary Monitor" setup issue within Winders.
When you are in the 1 on top, 2 on bottom setup. Does your PC recognize the 2nd monitor (even lacking the image)? Edited by Tidgxor - 09 Oct 2015 at 1:13pm |

it does sound like a "recognition" multi monitor config issue. the fact that they individually work in each port kind of rules out hardware damage (with the port, gpu, monitor cables, etc.) i would think.

Just had a thought.... Make sure both monitors are powered on before booting the rig. If you use a green power strip that kills power to the plugs to disable trickle usage, plug into non green plug. There have been cases of the card firing up faster than the monitors and not seeing the monitor to initialize it.
You sure this isn't a sleep deprivation issue with graveyard? Have fun. |

LOL.. "Sleep deprivation" is my middle name. I am intimately familiar with the concept and the condition.
Anyway, both monitors are under constant power (along with the printer and other accessories) as the computer is the only thing powered down when it is time to retire for the day. |

Still hit the monitor power on buttons first. They might turn off then on as you hit the power buttons again, just before turning on the pic. Long shot but it has worked on random occasions.

Just for ha-ha's try reinstalling your graphics drivers. Could be a software glich , although I have no idea why in your case.
