When my Dad was still around, I remember him trying to learn how to type on a typewriter we had (not cheap! and it's not like we had money to spare). He had somehow managed to skip over typing lessons in school, I think because he was good friends with the shop teacher (ah small towns Big%20Smile). Well, one day when I came to visit I noticed it was gone, so I asked him about it and found out that the ole' typewriter crossed him one too many times and it soon landed "down over the hill" which is what we called "target practice." Mom wasn't pleased. LOL

I tried for 2 years to take typing in High school.   Both times I was told I wasn't a girl, which I had already figured out, and typing was for future secretaries.    

Dang sexist.

Typing was a secretarial skill course back then. Today it is an everything needed skill.CryI do the two finger thing.LOL
For me it was "mechanical drawing" or " home economics" (nothing to do with numbers).

For me, it was a 1/2 year course at my high school (private Catholic) that was an elective. In retrospect, typing probably ended up being my most useful high school skill learned!
