Okay I'm in stage 5, got a bit more to go but I was concerned about ground shipping. Is this okay? Should I get something else?
I don't want to pay that much for freight. |

Personally, I would prefer ground if the item isn't needed in a hurry.. for a number of reasons
1) Most ground freight goes by rail if the distance is long enough. 2) priority / overnight shipping means the folks that handle your package are in a hurry. 3) packages that don't move as fast are more likely to be tracked better / more accurately. This is just a few from my perspective. |

Ground shipping is fine, but there is always a chance for damage. no matter witch one you choose. I personally chose overnight shipping since i'm very impatient. tho i suppose if DS finishes my build on a friday then i would rather them ship it on Monday.. less chance for the GF to find out

Mine shipped across the country to Ct., ground, in 5 days without a scratch . Still running great.
My son just had his Vanquish shipped to me due to his work , and same...no issues. Most are fine. Its the stories of damage that one remembers. |

I had issues with mine but as Alex mentioned in another thread, we have to remember that most people that get their systems fine don't come here and say it got here fine, most folks have an issue and come here to solve it, so while I did myself and you do see others have bad shipping issues keep in mind that its not a clear picture of how shipping here goes.
Also when dealing with shipping things can always go wrong, but based on what Alex says, its not that many when you take into account everybody and not just the complaints. |

Ground shipping should be fine. To add to what others have said, if it were the case that shipping consistently damaged computers, it simply wouldn't be a viable option for either DS or the customers.
I should be getting my machine in the next week by ground, and (hopefully) that'll be another positive data point. |

We package very PC quite extensively to protect it from shipping abuse. It's RARE for a PC to arrive to a customer with issues. If there are any issues, that's where our support team is there for help.

Well, it's not entirely a positive data point, as there was some
(cosmetic) damages to my machine, a Bolt3, when it arrived today. The
machine seemed to run just fine after I turned it on though (aside from some confusion with
the fans, which I've asked about in a different thread).
There was one screw on the side panel (image below) that got rather warped during transit, and it took quite a while for me to get it out. The back of the top panel also had a indention in the corner. Overall, it sounded like the screws all around were somewhat loose, and I noticed that the power supply was hanging freely (it seemed like the screws came out). Before I turned on the machine, I went and undid/retightened what I could so that I couldn't hear any noticeable "creaking". There were fortunately some spare screws that I was able to use to put the power supply back in and "hide" some of the damage to the holes on the side panel. I also noticed some liquid residue around/inside the case, but couldn't really isolate it to any place in the LC system. It wasn't a lot, so I'm hoping it's standard for shipping and nothing to worry about. |
