How can I overclock my CPU and GPU and do I need to overclock them?

CPU: Intel Core i5 4690k or Intel Core i5 4590 (not sure)

GPU: EVGA GTX 970 sc

Thx, Saulio

You need to be sure of which it is... the "k" means that it can be overclocked. No "k", no oc.

i don't think you'll be able to push that cpu boost clock very high with that cooler, but there should be room for some mild oc ability.  try setting the multiplier to 42 and see if the stock voltage is enough for stability and the cooler is working sufficiently.

you can dl this free program to run a stability test (i recommend a few hours at minimum):   http://rog.asus.com/241042013/overclocking/rog-realbench-free-app-download-now/

you can also use OCCT, Prime95, or others (i'd steer clear of Intel's Burn Test-too much heat)
