Topic: Phantom Windows account / Eset scan Posted: 04 Jan 2016 at 10:40am |
Hello,
I noticed last night that I have a 2nd windows account under my daughters name. Ive never made an account for her (shes only) and has never touch my gaming laptop... Ive deleted it and restarted and now its gone. My fear is that somehow my computer was hijacked. After I deleted the Phantom windows user account, I ran my Eset security and I have nothing but unusual files that are yellowish/orange in color. Should i do a full system reformat and start fresh? or could it be something different? |

Eset has a phantom account under anti theft. Here's a link that talks of it.

I have no personal experience so hope this helps. You got me why it was in your daughters name. Sounds a bit strange. Edited by bprat22 - 04 Jan 2016 at 12:57pm |

I haven't explored how Microsoft links between accounts, but it might have to do with the log-in accounts association with Hotmail e-mail accounts. The accounts can then float between machines connected to the internet.
