Selecting the Lumos Ultimate option you could choose as power supply that EVGA 750 G3 or in offer for about $98 more the 1000 watts G2, both are excellent choices but I'm heading towards the smaller one because I'm not going to SLI and the smallest foot print really appeals to me and because why not is a newer model, any comments, suggestions or observations there? which one would you choose?
in other words I'm hesitant about putting my order until the Intel bug patch has released and benchmarked, thoughs? 🙄 Edited by ((KamiKaZe)) - 03 Jan 2018 at 5:14pm |

I'd choose the power supply that gets you home at the best price. that's the 750 in this comparison. That extra $98 gets you nothing you'll need.
I'd have to agree to wait out the facts of the Intel issue if you can. Just got my system yesterday, so it's a little late for me. Hoping I can take it in stride, whatever. |

This Intel deal needs more solid info on what the effect of the fix is actually doing to the cpu speeds, but I am holding off until they fix it with out any speed issues or lower there prices, paying full price for there mess up and costing me speed does not seem like a win.

I have not read everything on it yet but this is mostly likely a patch that will come from ms, it does not effect speeds, amd also is effected but its bug us a little different.
Waiting makes you lose some sales ir prices. Also everything is effected, phones tablets, the sites you login to. As for psu 750w modular is great for single card, 1000w is more for sli or power users. Edited by DST4ME - 03 Jan 2018 at 8:37pm |

The patch will affect the affected cpu speeds since it has to do with its architecture and internal prioritizing. That said, who knows what will happen.

Where did you read that im not seeing that in the report by the people that found it.
The patch is gonna start with KAISER as a temp then perhaps the actual solution, be it hardware or micro. Edited by DST4ME - 04 Jan 2018 at 2:13am |

thanks guys for the honest feedback, i do think that PSU 750 G3 is a better option and regarding this new Intel mess seems based on reports that gaming is not going to be hardly affected but we use our computers for other stuff besides gaming I'm holding my order until further benchmarks are released and i hope Digital Storm do not ends the actual offer soon

Guys it is not just intel it is amd also.
As i mentioned The patch is gonna start with KAISER as a temp then perhaps the actual solution, be it hardware or micro. They are not going to gimp their cpu. Also is everyone clear on what the vulnerability actually is? |

there are 3 types of vulnerabilities the worst one only affects Intel and maybe ARM not AMD https://videocardz.com/74580/amd-arm-google-intel-and-microsoft-issue-official-statements-on-discovered-security-flaws https://wccftech.com/intel-affected-by-critical-kernel-bug-amd-hit/ |

Kaze all of those sites are going off of a study that find those vulnerabilities, im going on the actual study itself and the actual people that found the vulnerability.
There are 2 main ones found by these groups: So what i am showing is from the horses mouth: They are both bad, but if you read the paper they presented and their methods and findings you will see that, meltdown is a pain in the behind to execute abd for users like us it is not worth it. At the end meltdown is just reading your memory from physical or cache. When it comes to these types of stuff i go straight to the source for most accurate information / facts. AMD response is BS. 1. "This was done in controlled environment by professionals" Umm ta that is how these things work, also the intel test too was done by professionals in controlled environment. 2. "There has been no reported incident with amd cpu" Umm ok but the same goes for intel 3. "There are 3 variants and some don't apply to Amd" Umm You can claim that but at the end Spectre was ran successfully on Amd, till we see the fix amd is just as vulnerable as intel, i can get your secrets via meltdown or Spectre depending if you are on intel or amd. KAISER doesn't work on Spectre. According to the paper /test more speculative behavior = more problems since the speculative behavior/execution is where the flaw is. seems like gaming remains mostly unaffected by the patch, I'm feeling less nervous about it and back to my original plans to order my Lumos within the next couple of weeks
