I intend to dual boot Ubuntu on the prospective system. Are there any known driver issues with Linux and your builds? I'm primarily concerned about the on-board WiFi. If I have internet, I can work any other issues out without too much trouble. However, an unstable network interface isn't something I want to deal with. Do you provide modular intake dust filters as an option? Any suggestions regarding the build cited below will be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer the dual boot question but the rest of the build looks good. However, I can't say if it'll meet your needs without knowing what it'll be used for and the monitor resolution if it's a gaming system.

I intend to use the machine as my family's (wife and two grammar school age kids) primary desktop. My son and I intend to play Minecraft, WoW and Halo w/Steam. I will also use the system to stream via Chromecast and play DVD via HMDI to the 1080p Samsung TV in the living room.

For those games and the 1080p rendering, the gtx 1060 will have little or no problem. If you ever intend to go to heavier hitting fps's, etc then the gtx 1070 is worth the bump up.
I don't stream, but last i looked, the cpu and its core speed/thread count is very important in streaming. The i7-6700k with hyper threading might give fewer drops, but that's dependant on what you stream and with what. The i5-6600k is best bang for the buck, overall, and all most gaming needs. The budget, as always, makes the choice for you. Good luck. |
