Nope, it's essential. The GTX 480's are power hungry cards.

So much so that a 1000w PSU would be pretty strained by two 480s, probably better to grab a 1200w. The 1200w Digital Storm Certified is nicely priced, makes for a good option.

they were testing at 4.5ghz, thats way out of the range you will see on air, or that asetek cooler.
what youre reading there is from the point of view of extreme overclocking, not gaming, they are comparing it to top end boards because even at its low price its capability is through the roof
