Topic: Questions...GTX 1070, 24 inch monitors Posted: 06 Jan 2017 at 4:41pm |
Hello,
My current computer has a GTX 1070 founders edition. I would like to ask the esteemed members in DS.... 1. Is it possible for it to support THREE 24-inch monitors? I am NOT asking for all 3 monitors to be displaying the game that I am playing (like those driving/plane simulator games). I don't need that. I am perfectly fine having the main/middle monitor be displaying the game I am playing (DOTA 2/ Arkhamknight watever) while the 2 screens on each side will be playing youtube on one screen while I may have a movie playing on another. Currently - I am supporting 2 monitors, one i plug it via HDMI cable on the video card and the other using DVI also thru the Video card So basically my question is, I can't 100% tell if the card itself can let me plug in another monitor and it will support 3 displays. Maybe i'll plug it and nothing happens. My "research" shows that I should be able to do it, but can someone confirm + the method to do so? 2. If i were to buy 3 brand new monitors, and I believe the optimal gaming size is at 24 inches, which brand + model would you recommend? I believe at 24inches, the highest resolution it will support is 1920x1080. Am I correct? If so, please recommend some choices? THanks so much guys, i m sorry for the long post.... |

Hi darbedo... yep, you can run 3 monitors off the card. Just have to match the connections, maybe using an adapter like an hdmi to dvi. Then setup in Nvidia control panel.
I haven't done much looking into monitors since my Dell 23" UltraSharp. Edited by bprat22 - 06 Jan 2017 at 5:03pm |

Out of curiosity, just checked at Amazon and found 24" monitors at 1440p.

is DELL's IPS monitor still good?
Dell U2417HA or U2415? or Dell no longer viable. I bought the BENQ XL2411 and the color is pretty washed out and somehow...its hurting my eyes. my Dell u2312HM is easier for me, so looking for another IPS... |

seems like Dell's monitors are now made with either LG or samsung screen or AU optroinics, this one is by AU. can't really tell if its much better or worse than the samsung/LG/whatever it was before , but we'll see how it goes.
got them at best buy lol |

Make sure you disable sleep mode in the monitor menu, i hear it can be quite annoying. |

I like that monitor. Not sure I would wan to or could go to a bigger screen, but that still gives 1440p. Nice.
How's it compare to 1080p ? |

So far i'm satisfied wtih the monitor |

Problem with most Dell monitors as they aren't the best for gaming. They usually have slightly worse tearing than "gaming monitors".
Plus, 1440p @ 24" isn't the best combo. It's like 4k on 42" TV. Taking a high resolution and putting it on a smaller screen won't give you better clarity. If anything you'll be paying extra for the clarify of a 1080p monitor with a 1440p IPS price tag. When running multiple monitors, they don't have to be the same size and spec unless you want to use Nvidia Surround. So you can have a 28" 4k, 27" 1440p, and a 24" 1080p if you wanted. Long story short: Would I buy a dell monitor for gaming? No. Would I buy a 24" 1440p monitor (IPS or TN)? No. ASUS still makes some of the absolutely best gaming monitors, though you pay for it. Acer has come a long way, and Benq is finally getting good again. |
