I know I will get a quick response if I post here. - I will not upgrade my current config for some time, but, as a general rule, 1 high end video card is good enough for 1440 and 1080 and a 27 or 30" monitor? - Friends Son is looking to get a computer for his birthday.

Hi Clay.... Yeah, a single 980 or 980 Ti will play great on a single 1080 or 1440. If you game multi - monitor, then you'd need sli unless you want to turn settings down.
Here's an example.... http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1442?vs=1496 Below 4k, the 980 and 980Ti make single cards doable. Hope this helps. |

Sounds like a plan.
Nice build. Change the HDD from Seagate to Western Digital Black for $19. Might as well give them a better rated drive with longer warranty. Gotta love the Bolt 3. |

Hi Clay,
That is an inexpensive system for a bolt. But you made a lot of compromises to keep the price down. I suggest you take a look at this Apollo build that gives you a better Power Supply, way better SSD, and better cooling. Clay, I can get a similar build down to $1,793.00 with a different case, a 120 SSD and a 970 GPU. But it is not worth the effort. The Vanquish III level 4 is still $200 dollars cheaper with a better SSD. I would recommend the Vanquish II Level 4 and be done with it if price is a problem.

Hi Clay... Looking into Frank's mind , I believe this is what he meant by a $1793 build. Sorry Frank, had to jump in.
Config # 1228092 Cost $ 1793 Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Digital Storm Coridium Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i5 4690K 3.50 GHz (Codename Devils Canyon) (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS Z97-E (Intel Z97 Chipset) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W EVGA SuperNOVA Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Optical Drive: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Storage Set 1: 1x SSD (120GB Samsung 850 EVO) Storage Set 2: 1x Storage (1TB Western Digital - Black Edition) Storage Set 3: - No Thanks RAID Config: - No Thanks RAID Card: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics Card(s): 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB (Includes PhysX) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio HPC Processor: - No Thanks Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex 120mm Radiator Liquid CPU Cooler (High-Performance Edition) H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a custom HydroLux liquid cooling system selected Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Airflow Control: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 1: Overclock CPU 4.0GHz to 4.4GHz Boost Graphics Card(s): - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows CD) Virus Protection: FREE: McAfee AntiVirus Plus (1 Year Service Activation Card) (Not Pre-installed) ($35 Value) Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks Portable Gaming: - No Thanks Branded Gear: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty (3 Year Labor & 1 Year Part Replacement) Problem is, for $200 LESS, the Vanquish level 4 will give you an SSD twice the size, 120GB vs 250gb, and the V4 has the gtx 980 vs the gtx 970, another 15% boost in performance, give or take. Nothing wrong with your original Bolt 3 build or these, they all look good, but the Vanquish 4 is best bang for your buck at this price range. Sometimes someone will pay more just for the case, or a component they feel strongly about, so it's all up to whoever is paying. Edited by bprat22 - 21 Jun 2015 at 7:38am |
