I currently have 6 GB system memory in my Digital Storm computer. I have 3x2GB DDR3 1600MHZ Corsair Dominator with DHX, 9-9-9-24.
I am considering purchasing Corsair Dominator 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800), 1.65v, 9-9-9-24. Will the new modules be compatible with the 3 memory modules I currently have installed? Thank You! |

Short answer is , probably. Mixing ram is always a wait and see issue. It usually does but you'll never know for sure. You are matching timing and manufacturer. Not sure about voltage. If you have 3 sticks now you probably have a X58 tri channel mobo. It likes ram sticks in 3 but not necessary, if I remember correctly.
It's always better to swap it all out but that does cost more. I suggest going with 3x4gb and retiring the old 2gb sticks. Edited by bprat22 - 10 Jan 2014 at 3:38pm |

What Bprat22 said. BTW I did this a few months ago on my original DS System. It was time as well as well worth it.
