Ive been running laptops for the last 5 years and am in the dark about sli. I will be running 3 vg248qe monitors in 2d and eventually 3d surround. My questions are: 1. With the sli setup, What is the best way to connect to the 3 monitors? I am assuming that they will be all dual link dvi, 2 from one card and 1 from the other. Does it matter which monotors go to which card? Which card would be the master card getting the 2 monitor connection? 2. For the games that dont play well with sli, is it just a matter of turning sli off? I questioning how user friendly sli is. Will my wife and kid want to kill me for going sli? 3. Final question: 2 of my monitors will be about 8 feet from the tower. Any suggestions on cabling? Dual link dvi extension or just try and find a 10 ft cable? I appreciate all comments.

Build looks great.
For your monitor setup, the top card is usually the master and the one the center monitor hooks to. There are different requirments for 2D and 3D.. Best bet it to go here.... http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-670 hit '3d Vision Surround' lower left..... 'System requirements' lower right .. '3d config tool ' and plug in your gtx670, 2d/3d ...2way sli and landscape usually. Note... The left card on their examples is the top card as you face the back of the rig. Basically it looks like 2d or 3d you're right about the hookup. Sli can be disabled in Nividia Control Panel if needed. Never looked into cable extensions, but the length your talking shouldn't be an issue. Good Luck. Edited by bprat22 - 04 Apr 2013 at 11:24am |
