My expectations were blown away by DSO, Super fast, and easy with simple tasks of customizing and playing with what you want on the laptop. The customer service was great, no hassle fast responses with honest responses, I was in love. The package was in a tight sealed and foamed. When I opened my boxes I nearly crapped my pants I never expected this laptop to be a giant monster. Holy cow, I mean it is huge, felt like I could hack into what ever I wanted with this laptop. xD

IMHO, I highly recommend DSO if your wanting to buy a very unique laptop/desktop with premium quality. Much more superior than retail store laptops and very cheap in comparison to other competitors. I love the high quality
of customer service they bring to the table.

Service: A
Price:A
Packaging: A
Scaring the F**** out of me: A
I will be definitely coming back to buy my next desktop, once I get settled with the dorm situation. Make babies with me DSO (no homo)

bprat22- Thanks for helping me with the image situation.

Dates:
July 12th: Ordered
July 12th: Stage 1
July 21st: Shipped!
July 26th: Received. Finally!

Very cool DSO logo on the back.

Full QWERTY key board, I was blown away how big this monster was. This whole setup is very convenient and clean cut. My hands so small. o.o

Awesome packaging with multiple boxes and styrofoam, for those bumpy trips.

Comes with a carry bag, Win7, Drivers, etc. The AC/DC adapter is huge, scared the living Sh*t outa me. No wonder it can handle hardcore gaming.

Screen looks amazing, very clean cut and smooth, recommended.

Glad to hear you like the x17.  Have you had a chance to check out the battery life? I would really appreciate if you would follow up with how long the battery lasts
and your thoughts about key board and the overall operation.  I'm looking at an the X17 Level 2 with an SSD and HDD to use as an alternative to my desktop, and while battery life is not critical to my decision, I would like decent battery life.

Thanks again for your initial review.

@alofnc

 The battery lasts for around 3-4 hours at INTENSIVE heavy gaming this laptop needs to be fed for how much it can do. but if your searching through the web, or writing a paper its probably another 1-2 hours added to that.The keyboard is very comfortable, I love it, much bigger than I thought it to be. I pretty much bought this for intensive gpu games and its done very well, I'll try to post some CPU core temperatures but an hour of sc2 at ultra setting made me very happy. It was still very cool on the bottom. Smooth operation, everything works fast and very good, well worth the money than the fruit product laptops, which I can't probably name. The only thing is, its huge, I might get back probably lugging this baby around lol, and I wish the battery pack was a bit smaller. But overall its an A+. If you need any Q on gaming freely ask, I might try some other games once I get them downloaded.

Steam id: is Duckmucher.

Ducks,
Thanks a lot for your followup.  While I had pretty much decided that I was getting a DS laptop.   I was still undecided between the X17 and XM17, mainly because I wanted some extra battery life when I travel.  If you are getting 3 to 4 hours with the X17, then I'm SOLD.  While my use will not be for gaming, I still want a really fast, reliable laptop with the added benefit of 2 SSD or HDD bays.

Thanks again and continue to enjoy your GREAT laptop.

I have the same laptop (Sager NP8170) but with 2720QM and the AMD 6970M video card instead.  Battery life is 3-4 hours if I'm not on wi-fi and I adjust the power settings to max out battery life.  If I'm on wi-fi and have the power settings on high the battery life is less than 2 hours, just fyi.

My co-worker has the XM17 level 2 from DS and he gets significantly better battery life than my NP8170, but gaming-wise his fps is significantly lower on ultra settings for WoW and Rift.

hey ducks. Can you post some sideview pics?
U said the battery pack scared u lol.

I was wondering how much watts is the laptop. It doesnt really specify and stuff.

Also my config was the same as yours except for wireless intel ultimate.

Can you feel it hot when your playing for lets say 4-6 hrs ?
If you do, then I might add the premium IC diamond.

Wow thank you for the temps. I think thats acceptable since the max is like 57 celsius.

I can wait for the side pics so no hurry.
I do still want to know if the wattage rating is like 180 watts? normal laptops is like 90watt. but this bad boy is a beast.

That being said, I think I'll stick with the stock thermal compound. I'll be buying this laptop by the end of this year, thxgiving or around christmas time hoping for some deals.

Uhm I have no clue if this is the wattage but I found it on the AC/DC adapter, the AC input is 100-240V and DC output 19V.  I would ask management on that question, sorry I couldn't help

Hey Ducks,

Thanks for all the info you've posted so far.  Now that you've been using your X17 for about a month how is it going?  Are you still getting several hours of battery life?  Any problems or issues with software, firmware, etc  that needed to be addressed?  Have you had any need to contact customer surface and if so, how was your experience?  I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a DS x17 level 2 with some upgrades and want to make sure I am still making the right choice.  Thanks again for your input and hope you are enjoying the s*** out of your x17

No Problem at all. Sorry for taking so long replying to your question.

Overall I had never contacted DSO for any issues so far. Everything runs smooth and faster than ever! Battery life is still strong around 3 hours for heavy gaming, around 4-5 for casual experience. Service with DSO is the best. I'm actually looking into a desktop to spoil myself from DSO >:D Yes! Pretty much I can play anything I want! hehe. Sc2: ultra setting no lag. I'm ready for bf3/skyrim :) So far its been amazing, pretty much can handle any game I played. COOLING has been so far amazing, still at low temps around 110C after gaming. I still love it, haha hope you enjoy yours when you get it!

@axleman1011,

We can try our best to accommodate your request. Worst case, you should be able to remove the logo which is a badge with an adhesive back. Just let our sales team know directly.

@axleman

Because this is such a powerhorse with gaming. the weight is pretty heavy. I NEVER carry this around my campus cause it will really cause me spinal injuries.. haha The batter adapter is also big because it takes alot of energy to run this beast. But I still love it, I have to make some sacrifices to have a high quality portable gaming laptop. The bag it comes with really helps but I have to carry books , etc.. so I carry it around rarely. If weight is really a concern I would look into the x15 or the xm15. But overall I love it. I just got a net book to take notes in.

I know this is an old post but i was just wondering because i am getting this same model shortly for graduation with just a different graphics card. (AMD 6990) and how is performance on games like BF3 and Skyrim? I know this is no desktop but i was still hoping for good graphics and no lag on this laptop.

Even with my 560m, I believe? run Skyrim on high settings, bf3 hm never tried but I think it would sustain medium settings.  Hope this helps.
