The Samsung SyncMaster 245T 24" is also a great Monitor but pricey. I have owned it now for 3 months and still would buy it again over all others.

I have an LG W3000H and it is the sweetest, brightest, most colorful monitor I have ever had. This thing is gorgeous and I would give it a 10 out of 10 any day. Mind you, you need a pretty fine video card to run it.. but it is REALLY worth it. World of Warcraft on it is like looking through a large, clear window. No shadowing at all evident (mind you I don't play shooters).

I just posted the other day about looking to get a new and larger monitor... how I missed this comprehensive guide by SkyR I don't know.  Its just what I need.

As always, thanks SkyR

As an edit:

Extensive research by your links and many others on the web really point to the
Planar PX2611W as being an amazing monitor.  I also found a site via PriceGrabber.com that has them for $788.00 with free shipping.

I'm actively looking for a monitor, as I currently don't have one XD... Looking for a native resolution of 1920x1200, quality picture, and runs smoothly with video viewing/gaming. After looking at your Reviews SkyR, and looking at similar models, this is what I found at a decent price.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm currently just looking at more reviews and looking between couch cushions for spare change ^_^!

Edit: I have to agree that the above mentioned monitor is ugly >_<;... the colour choices don't appeal to me at all =P

Look at & compare both the T240 & T240HD. Specs & price should be the same. I have read the HD varient MAY have an  issue with input lag due to the built in tuner. I Have the T260, played on both the T260 & T260HD. IF you will not be useing said monitor for TV & or Xbox you may want to consider the T240. (Personally I think either would be fine.) Also U need to really search for quality information. Inpart because the True Color line is so new. I spoke with James @ DS who also recommended the non HD varient. Like I said yu will most likely enjoy which ever you choose. On a side note, these have to be the best looking monitors out at the moment. For me I will use mine untill the 120hz 27-30" monitors with better specs then the current 30"'s are available. Then this monitor will move into the play room for the kids. Now if only my New DS system would ship <g>.

Yea I was looking into both the T240 and the T240HD... I'm still contemplating =P. I've been trying to look at a vast variety of reviews, and overall it seems like it's a great monitor, through user's eyes. Through expert's eyes, they say the color in game is "drab". What's you input on this? =)

I'll let you know more next week after I get my new system. With that said, for me color looked great. If you have a best buy near you go in and try one out. They had an ailenware set up with a T260HD in the store near me. From what I read the color issue was more with the T260, nothing a meter/caliberation won't fix. Also seemed to be hit and miss on the first ones shipped. Again I saw these side by side with several of the top rated monitors and they looked great.

For my new DSO unit I bought a Samsung T260, this one.

For me it is great display, but then again I am no expert.  It does have the TN panel limitations for viewing but it does not bother me one bit.

I am not a photo buff so true color issues are not a big deal for me.

I have not noticed any input lag but a TN panel shouldn't.

I got it for about $500 from costco online.

I am very happy with and it and it "games" well.

Linking in the thread on 30" gaming monitors... basically resulted in the Dell 3007wfp-hc refurb from the Dell Outlet. Roughly $1200 monitor for $749 (plus 15% off if you can get a hold of a coupon... try ebay) plus a 3-year warranty. Seems to have the lowest input lag of the current 30" out (an issue with several 30" including the Dell 3008wfp)... should be noted that the out of box colors are way off so a colorimeter or downloaded ICC profile is recommended.

I have the HP2475w and it's kick ass. It's an improvement from my old samsung 17"inch syncmaster. Colors are very accurate, the viewing angles are insane (it's an IPS, like DUH)... and the gaming is great as well! If you are looking for a 24 incher, look no further.

I am looking for a new monitor but only want to spend around $400 (put most of my money in my new DS rig that is stuck in stage 2).  Does anyone have the Hanns-G 28" LCD and if so could you share your opinion?  I play mostly first person shooter games and would like to upgrade from my Dell 2005FP Ultrasharp.

My new DS rig will come with the GTX 295.  I am not hooked on the Hanns but it looks like a pretty good one for the price.

Also how important is contrast ratio? The dell one I have now is 600:1 and when watching news from CNN or other news outlets in full screen it looks very poor.

Thanks to everyone who replys.

I'm also in the market for a monitor and am completely dumb founded. I have a new ds rig on the way so I need to make a decision soon. Looking for a 24" lcd capable of 1920 x 1200. Leaning toward the Acer g24 (orange color is not a concern). I'm also considering the HP 2475w and Dell 2408. I had a chance to view the Samsung t260 and found that the review was spot on and colors really were drab. Overall, the Acer g24 looks good for the price. Anyone have any experience with the above monitors or have any other suggestions?

I also have the HP2475w and Gringo is right. This is a great monitor. FC2 looks and plays super.
Watching tv shows we missed is also spectacular.

The info on the 24" BenQ G2400WD isn't quite right. The resolution is 1920x1200, not 1680x1050. It's going for around $360 nowadays on Newegg.

I have this monitor and like it quite a bit. It's great for gaming; fast response time, no ghosting or blurring. BUT, it is a TN panel, so the viewing angle is not a wide as non-TN panels. This is never a problem for me though; I'm always directly in front of it. I like the monitor quite a bit. So if you're ok with TN panels, and mainly use your computer for gaming, I think it's a great choice.

If gaming is your thing, I'd recommend the 24" BenQ G2400WD. There were several people in the Newegg reviews that said they were using it with their PS3 at 1080p and it looked great. Just be aware that it is a TN panel, so it has the usual TN panel viewing angle issue. This is never a problem with me though, as I always view it head-on (it's only an issue if you're at an angle). TN panels have the advantage of fast response time though, which is good for gaming (no ghosting).

I bought 2 of these monitors from best buy.  They are $219 each, you can buy two of these for the price of one 24" monitor.  I play games and watch HD movies on these monitors and they are great.

One of the reasons I'm looking at a Samsung, is because they have some monitors with HDTV tuners built in, instead of going HDTV with pc input.

i didnt know about response time when i bought my samsung t245 syncmaster its 5ms and i guess i should have bought 2ms. is there really a big difference? meaning is it worth attempting to exchange it for the 2ms, and does it really make a difference.
