I've read it both ways over the years. Leave the PC on; it's better for it than all those cold startups. Oh no. You should shut down every time you're finished with it. Besides, it saves energy.

I'm curious how many of you choose to leave it on 24/7/365 (aside from any deliberate reboots) vs. those that shut it down each and every time you've finished using it for the day/night.

I'm more of a leave it on user, especially since my last pre-DS computer had major issues with restarting. Now that I own this DS Apollo beauty, I'm wondering if I don't need to do that anymore. Thoughts?

Edit: I left my former pc that i bought from here on 24/7 as well and was using it since 2013 up until end of 2016

My machine is off if I'm away from it for more than 6 hours. Anything less it stays on.

Too many problems with my Vanquish from sleep/hibernate.

I turn my systems off when not in use.

Given boot-up speeds these days, I tend to shut mine off if I'm not going to be around for more than an hour. A lot of that has to do with reducing energy consumption and a lot less to do with what's best for the ole' PC.

That said, 20+ years ago when boot-ups where more of an issue, I was a big fan of sleep mode, but not so much anymore.

I prefer shutting it down. I feel uncomfortable if I don't do that.
