Topic: Silence's Build Posted: 04 Aug 2007 at 11:05am |
Well here's my build.
I want to know if it will be okay in my room which is south of San Jose in sunny Ventura county. I live in Ojai, an inland valley and right now my room gets about 80 to 90 degrees in the summer. Please give me any comments. I haven't bought it yet because I'm waiting for my next paycheck (I'm a lifeguard) so im still playing around with the specs. |

Your build looks like it should stay cool enough. The DigitalStorm experts will can give you an expert opinion but even with your higher room temps it should stay cool enough with the Stage 2 cooling.

I looked over your configuration and it looks to be a great quiet build. All of the components you selected run fairly quiet. The PRO series case has very good cooling properties. There is a massive 120MM fan that draws air into the case; towards the video cards and into the chassis. Then we have a massive 120MM fan that draws the hot air out from the back away from the computer.
This is a perfect quiet and cool running setup, you will be very happy with it. The Value and LITE series cases don't offer cooling as effective as the PRO, ULTRA, and EXTREME series. Edited by Alex - 04 Aug 2007 at 4:24pm |

Should I go with over-clocking? How much would it go up to?

Sure, overclocking is always a great thing. You get more speed out of your processor.
AMD's processors do not overclock as high as Intel's, so with our Stage 3 cooling package which includes our TwisterBoost techonology, we should be able to get it from a 2.6GHz to a 2.8-2.9GHz with no problem.

Yes, but, I would recommend an Intel macine, your going to get a much more powerful computer.
You should configure a Intel machine based on the same budget and specs. You will be much happier!

:D I am now as happy as I can get right now.... :'( except my Dell E510 just completely died again and it was a pain setting up the wireless network...again... WHOOO 4th time this summer new record! The only good think about this computer is it has the recovery disk on a hard drive partition so I don't need the disk. Oh well time to down load CS:S again. *sigh* Im probably ordering this week too so how long will it take if I live in Ventura, CA? San Jose is pretty close.

I have been an AMD fan for years and they were truely the best bang for your buck...until the new line of Intel processors. Look at all the charts, graphs and comparisons and Intel is in the lead for the tiem being.

I am really not loyal to either company :/ whichever suits my needs the best at the time I'm happy with. My current pc is an amd, but this thing is a little outdated.

That's fine, AMD is equally as good too, we offer both options to our customers.

That's up to you. We ship ground with your order and that will take approx 1-3 days to ship to you. (More than likely 1 or 2) but if that's not quick enough you could pay for expedited shipping
But if you're close, you could always arrange a local pickup! Edited by Kelly - 05 Aug 2007 at 10:32pm |

Sweet that means I can get it before school starts. What about the extra parts like the monitor and speakers?

We have all of those items in stock. When ever we ship the system, or if you come pick it up, you'll have them right away.

Can anyone think of a way to bring down the price but still having it be almost a good?

Downgrade to wired network connection.
Get rid of case lighting. Get rid enhanced interior air flow. You don't have Vista so downgrade to a 7900 card, they perform just as well as the 8800. No point in having a 8800 card if you aren't going to use DX10. |
