Topic: SSD Question Posted: 19 Jun 2016 at 5:23am |
Should I expect there to be space to add a 2nd SSD once my computer arrives? I've got the 500gig ssd and 1T HDD coming with the comp, but I'd like to add the 850 pro I already have in so it doesn't go to waste.
The old comp had a dying motherboard and I'm just going to salvage the good parts for friends and family, but wanted to keep the ssd for myself. While I know these comps are upgradeable I probably should have asked about having enough power for one more drive or if I needed a bigger power source. |

Debated dropping some of the memory down to 16g to save a few bucks, but mostly wanted to see what a basic DS comp will do for me long run. I'll probably do a few additional upgrades to this unit myself down the road, but felt it was a good starting point as my old machine has become a frankenstein of parts. |

Yep, like DST said, plenty of upgrade potential. The motherboard has 4x Sata 6 and the Sata Express(2x sata 6) for plugging in your drives. Your optical drive takes up one Sata, your drives 2 more and your left with 3 more if needed.

More likely than not, the bays are already pre-wired (they were on my system) and all you have to do is insert with an adapter.

Thanks for the responses guys!
I figured it probably wasn't an issue, but couldn't hurt to ask. |

Nope sure does not hurt to ask, and if you have anymore questions when you are ready to do it, ask away
