What failed:FLTMGR.sys

I restarted my computer..recently downloaded the newest driver for my GTX 980 and changed my sound settings.

Now I get that error message everytime I start my computer and I can't access it. I tried googling some solutions to no avail.

anyone able to help?

I should mention. I tried doing a registry clean/fix, malware and antivirus scan, and a system restore. All to no luck. It won't let me do a system restore.

Can you restore to an earlier point?
Maybe ram issue? Pull a stick out and try again?

If you can get into Safe mode, do it with networking and download and install a different driver for your 980. Drivers can cause all kinds of problems, some simulating bad hardware.

If that doesn't work, try removing your 980 and using the monitor with your motherboard integrated graphics. If it boots fine, then try system restore, etc.

Boot with your OS Disc and run Repair.

I use GeForce Experience or just download from their website.

I did a driver roll back. Still got the same error. Now I am back in safemode with networking. I also talked to microsoft tech support and they said to uninstall the driver completely.

Well, I completely uninstalled the graphics card driver in device manager and still get the same error message.

System restore fails everytime.

The only other things I have done is install mass effect andromeda and change my sound property settings to. bit depth/sample rate to 24bit and 44100 hz.

The only thing I haven't tried that you recommended was removing the graphics card completely.

Just the fact you can access and use Safe Mode usually points to a software issue and not bad hardware. Removing the 980 is to make sure it's driver isn't railing your system.

You could have corrupted system files.    In Safe mode, go to Command Prompt, type "sfc/scannow" , no quotes, and let it run.    You might get lucky.

I'm not sure about Windows 10, but previous versions allowed Repair option to look for corrupted files when booting with Windows CD in the drive.

A long shot but has worked....unplug the rig from the wall, hold in front power on button for several seconds, plug back in and try it.

Got it will do. Keep tried scannow a couple of times no luck. I'll try the graphics card in a bit when I'm not so angry haha

So odd story. I have had the computer off for the past couple of days since I have been at work. Decided to try and mess with it today, and now it randomly works. Thanks for the help if it happens again I will post again.

Nice. Just curious, had you done the mobo flush by unplugging the rig and holding in the power on button ?    Keeping the system off for days can have the same effect.    Sometimes a fault will linger and only by clearing the motherboard will it go away.

Hope it stays fixed for you.

According to the file name you provided: FLTMGR.sys, I searched in carrona.org and it's related to a Windows update.

carrona.org/drivers/search.php?id=FLTMGR.sys

Have you download and install any new Windows update lately?

I would recommend uninstalling any updates that you have recently installed.

Besides, here are a few solutions you can refer to resolve this blue screen error.
