Anybody use the Strike-X AeroCool Temperature Display, how is it mounted? It will be used with an Apollo, this will be my first adventure with a high end rig.(my wife's don't count) how do most track their temps. Is this worth having?

it's a nice convenience to have when it works, but unfortunately it's just another point of hardware/software conflict.  you can easily keep track of thermal performance from free 3rd party programs like HWMonitor and manage fan profiles from either the bios or, again, 3rd party programs (SpeedFan).  i haven't used one for years on my current rig, but i'm going to give DS' control board and software a try in the rig they're building for me right now.

IMHO, the strike x and even case built in fan controls like my ODE 600t case are more eye candy and/or gimmick then actually functional.   The stike x has temp sensors mounted to various locations in the case to monitor temps, but as long as the gpu and cpu temps are good, it doesn't make much difference in random locals.   Plus like db said, fan control is easily controlled by other means if needed.

It does look real nice mounted in the front 5.25 bays and nothing wrong with eye candy. A powerful rig that also looks great is nice to have.   Just realize its for looks more than really needed.

I think you'd find yourself loving it and playing with the settings for the first couple of weeks and then tiring of the messing around and using it for its display.   My opinion and others might think otherwise.

I suggest our HydroLux control board & software package versus other hardware based units.
