This thread was created for all the pet owners that this community have. I will start by telling you about my crazy beagle named Spike. This 3-years old companion of mine loves to sneak out using the patio pet door. I usually find him in the backyard, rolling over the lawn. There are even some instances wherein he will dig in the grass, then bury his toys. The house is a bit messy due to his paw prints, but I still love him though.

Hercules wants all dog owners to know:
Be sure to take your dog for a walk outside at least 3 times a day for 20min or longer each. (backyards are not the same) Hercules and your furry family member thank you. Edited by DST4ME - 20 Oct 2017 at 2:15am |

Tough thread for me. Very recently lost our little bundle of energy, Remy. One too many seizures was too much for his heart....

On a happier note, I have 3 cats, 2 male and 1 female....Zak , as in Zak McKraken, the 1988 pc game, Rebel and Asana. Asana survived a coyote attack, left blind in one eye and wired jaw, and is why the cats are all indoors now. Rebel follows me around like a dog.

Ohhh - that sucks Snaike and DST4ME. I'm so sorry to hear that. My doggy is almost 14 now and those thoughts occasionally creep in too. However, she's going pretty well other than the huge lump she has on her back (I'm calling her Quasimodo now - lol).

Haven't had any pets since 2008 I believe, mostly just due to lots of moving these past few years. Have had many over the course of my life though. Two favorites were a rooster (who has actually been my profile pic here since I joined ) and a dalmatian who lived to be 18 and a half years old, which is old for any dog, let alone a dalmatian.

When I was a kid I had a Rhode Island Red rooster. He was awesome, waking us every morning and chasing the local German Shepherd out of the yard just for jollies. Couldn't believe the dog was so afraid of the bird.

My mother was raised on farms so we had a few reptiles, mammals, birds (Rhode Is Reds for eggs) and even named fish around. The best were the geese. They were wickedly good guards. If a cat passed them with the tail up they would bite the $%i) out of it. Right now only two indoor and three outdoor guard cats. Love them.

This rooster scared off a coyote once. It was just a sole coyote, I'm sure a group would have had lunch, but we got a kick out of it.

Yes losing a pet/fur baby can be so, so hard. We have 3 acres and a 5 stall barn and tack room. I have had horses my whole life and was raised in Nebraska. Sadly(very sadly)all the horses we had here are buried now. One of those horses(a member of our little family) I had for 30 years and he died at age 35. We would still have horses only my husband is now 74 and I just don't think I could take care of the place alone if something happened to him(that goes for me to).
My husband two years ago got ten chicks(chickens) for christmas from his friend. We had chickens for years and have a fancy chicken house that holds 40 hens(they died of old age many moons ago). The chicks turned out to be all roosters by mistake! My hubby calls them his "bachelors club" and since he raised them all they love him. They have access to the property and roam all over in the daytime and back in the chicken shack at night. Nothing like going to the front door and 3 roosters are looking in at you wanting to come inside. Lol. |

Hondro is a good looking little fellow.. question though; is he like most small dogs when meeting new people? 50% tremble and 50% hate?

Both of those have owners that are not very well informed in dog behavior. Never blame the dog, 99.99% of time its the owner. Unfortunately most owners of little dogs pick them up a lot not realizing that they are making the dog anti social and territorial, which most times leads to the dog not being so friendly. Also you should always let a dog smell you first and then pet under the chin and not top of head. Edited by DST4ME - 25 Oct 2017 at 1:11am |

The birthday is whatever you put into your members profile I believe. Change it in Member Control Panel, profile and see if that does it.
