Over the passed 2 weeks or so I have been doing shopping in preparation for the Bolt 3 to arrive. I will update this post with pictures when possible. The last part of this "preparation" arrived today. Here are the links to everything...
BBF Desk (Beach/Slate) Asus MX25AQ Razer DeathAdder Chroma Razer DeathStalker Bose Companion 20 Now that I got all that out of the way, what was it that you bought to compliment your DS system? Edited by Goku1910 - 14 Jun 2016 at 3:22pm |

My new monitor is sitting on my old Computer desk....waiting.....I cannot test it's 1440p goodness because I discovered that although my GPU is capable of displaying 2K, the HDMI port doesn't support it. It does through DVI!
....Which my new monitor does not have. Display port here I come with the Bolt 3. |

Nvidia GT 440. Technically, it CAN display it, but it does not have HDMI 1.3....which means it can only display 2560x1440 if I use the DVI port. The new monitor has display port/HDMI only so I cannot use anything higher than 1080p.
Not buying a converter for a computer that's on it's death bed. Edited by Goku1910 - 14 Jun 2016 at 7:15pm |

gotcha Just an idea, I think we can figure a way around it.
Your card is listed as Maximum Digital Resolution 2560x1600. Are you saying your hdmi cable is 1.2? |

Yep, I can force 2560x1440 through the HDMI through Nvidia Control Panel but it seems like it's using DSR to render 1440p but output 1080p....Doesn't look right.
As for Preparation, the new desk is up and new accessories are up. Just waiting for the Bolt now. |

I already have quite a few of those and currently do not use any anti-virus. (Don't need it).
Bookmarked. |

Ok then but unless you are very familiar with the net/apps and you know exactly what you are doing I would heavily advise and anti virus and firewall.
firewall is a must have or you are probably already hacked/bot and don't even know it. but if you know what you are doing and have a soft/hard firewall then obviously never mind, I assume its the latter. Edited by DST4ME - 15 Jun 2016 at 6:13pm |

Haven't used one in years, haven't done any serious virus removals in a long time. With a higher performance PC I'll be more inclined to use one thanks to having less impact on performance.

Checkout eset in that thread, very light, only 2 processes and very fast, have not had a false positive in years to be honest, it has the anti virus, firewall and some extras. You won't even notice it running as far as performance goes. has a game mode so you can set it to game while you are gaming.
I can show you the best setting when you are ready. it has a 30 free full trial. |

I am hoping that my Hailstorm II shows up next week. I am going to put it on top of a shelving unit above my desk rather than under my desk, so I ordered 9 foot DisplayPort cables for my monitors, a 10 foot digital optical cable for my sound system, a 10 port USB 3 hub and corresponding 10 foot cable. I know there are 14 USB 3 ports in the case, but when I want to plug in something quickly, like a camera, microphone, etc, I don't want to have wires dangling down from the computer. Also I bought a WD 16TB My Book Duo Desktop RAID External Hard Drive to avoid having a large number of smaller USB external hard drives that I have accumulated over the years. I am not fond of only have my data backed up on internal hard drives in case there is a computer failure.

For those that were expecting pictures of the beastly Bolt 3 I'm sorry to disappoint you, but it needs a little first aid from the guys at Digital Storm. But no worries, Alex is taking care of the situation swiftly. I have learned a valuable lesson that Freight shipping is a must when it comes to these kinds of things.
I will share my whole experience, good and bad (Mostly good!) when I get the system back from the experts. Thanks again Alex, I can't wait for it to return! |

No need for sorry. I don't believe DS's craft is to blame, but the same can't be said for UPS....I've had issues with them once before; but that's a story for another time. I work in a retail environment and I totally understand that even if something isn't 100% your fault you still take care of it. I know that my patience will pay off. I was anxious about how it would be handled but that has all been dispelled now.

Don't even get me started with UPSh*t and FEDCrax. You should have seen how they delivered my crate, it looked like it was in an explosion. I had to return my pc and that is with a crate.

Can you believe UPS charged me $4.50 for extra bubble pack? Yep.....I had to put extra in to fill the spaces where the Bolt's stand and accessories boxes were.

Sacrifice some empty cardboard boxes in the name of your new computer... a little compression, a little combustion and a little destruction.. preferably under a new moon near a busy roadway.

Part of the reason I had it sent to my workplace is because I may not be home and so I can check the package and computer while I am there. We have computer test benches at this place so it works well. Well guess what day it's scheduled to arrive? My day off.
