Not trying to push a non-DS product here, nor am I sure this is the place to post this but...

But....Does anyone know if DS can offer a build with this case?

I know it's big and ugly but i am very partial to it's features, space and airflow.

I can pretty much find very viable options to the build i am looking for that isn't on DS partlist except this case.

Thx.
:)

Hi aj502...DS doesn't build the cases so they really don't mind the question.  You would have to ask them for a difinitive answer, but DS is very flexible and if you order a part from Newegg, etc, whether a case, gpu, etc. for example and sent it to them they will use it to custom build your rig.

Hope this answers it.Big%20Smile

Sent them the question a bit ago...Just figured I'd post here as well.

Black OPS Syndicate case might be an option tho.
Still prefer the GT's Full case modular system.

Thx.

DS is closed on weekends, so Monday you might get a reply.  Alex does stop by on weekends,  and if he sees this will give you an answer.

Yes we can. Big%20Smile You will just need to pay an extra special ordering fee, which I'm not sure exactly how much it will be, but, our team will definitely let you know.

I remember our team building a system around that case 1-2 month sago.

Hi aj502,

If you want to pay a premium for a case like the Thermaltake's Lvl10 GT I think DS will accommodate you. It doesn't offer anything that you can't get with the HAF-X for $100 cheaper. Of course the Thermaltake wins hands down for weird looking.

What kind of a system are you going to be building?

You'd say it would be a gaming syst, tho I don't hardcore game...

Something with an x79 board, i7 processor (3820 seems to be the ticket there - NO overclocking), decent viddy card (nVid560 seems good enough but not set on that - won't pay for the Ti) and 16g ram (2x8)....

And ofc that ugly case. LOL

Anything else is just fluff. Simple liquid cool is ok tho.

Looking for about a $2k build.

Any ideas/opinion?

Hi aj502....Before FrankW comes back to help...

What size monitor and resolution do you game with?

The X79 platform is a waste of your money for gaming, only needed for video editing, 3D rendering and other RAM intense apps.  The p67 or z68 are great with the i7-2600k  and oc'ing is safe and does give the pc a boost.

8GB of ram is all gaming uses, any more and it just sits there.

A decent gpu would be the gtx570, kinda the sweet spot in gaming perf vs price.

I have an Asus  23 or 24" monitor...Prolly get another to match it.

The only game I play that would give the system a hard time is Entropia Universe, and I don't need to play on high settings - just every once in awhile to check out the looks.

Being the not-too-savvy puter tech I am, I just do a ton of reading to decide what i want and what I "think" are good products.

I don't do very much vid editing so that's not a priority.

So you think x79s are overkill? I know z68s are good set, was just thinking ahead to last a few years.

Suppose I could save a buck by scaling down to 8g mem...Ez enough to add it later if I need to.

Basically all I am looking for is a rig that'll be satisfactory for a few years. I don't tend to upgrade with every new thing that comes out.

I do do some multi streaming things like broadcasting (online radio), Skype conferencing, etc at the same time..

Any and all opinions are welcome.

Lemmie check out the processor/Board you suggested in the meantime.

Thx!
:)

I also convinced myself that a gold rated PSU is what I want...Am I too picky on that?
Looking for about 1k watts, just in case i feel the need to go sli (or crossfire).

Oh yea..Also, what's the comparison with Quadro cards? Are they any better compared to nvidia's GT line?

Thx all!

The 1050HX and pro mobo allow you to add a gpu down the road.

The D14 air cooler is tops in cooling and reliability.  With this and the i7-2600k I went with stage 2 overclocking, the chip and cooler made for it.  DS will oc safely and the oc gives your rig a boost in horesepower.

For the 23/24" monitor at 1920x1050 resolution you can game on high settings with most games, ultra with Skyrim, civ5, etc.

The case is the HafX also tops in cooling but if you like the other then just make arrangments with DS. HafX like Frank said gives the same cooling for less $$.

I don't know quadro cards so maybe others can help there.

New Nvidia gpu's are close to release but lots of unknowns like price.  The 570 is a great card.  Your call as usual.

See what ya think.

Oh yeah, I checked the free t-shirtBig%20SmileBig%20Smile

lool, we darn near coming up with same build!

Ya think 570 worth the step up from 560 in long run? (From what I think i know about Quadro is that they are for peeps who do vid editing a lot, like pros...So prolly not needed on my end)

Any take on me being picky about a gold rated psu?

The Silverstone Gold 1000 only has a 3 year warranty.  The HX series has a 7year warranty.  I'd go HX.  Warranty is usually an indication of how much confidence the make has.

The 570 has about 20% better fps than 560.  Not huge, but can make a difference.  I have the 560 and love it, but at times wish I had the 570.

Hi aj502,

I am not sure what a gold rated PS is. The Corsair 1050HF is a wonderful PS. 7 year warranty and high performance. We recommend the Corsair AF and HF PS units. You can't do better for the money. The AF are modular.

bprat22 has given you a great build for your money. Another option would be the DS ODE-3. This gives you a lot more power for not two much more money.

If you are going to game the 570 is a much better choice than the 560. You will find that your new computer is really fun to game on and you may find you are doing more gaming than you do now.

Hm...Good point on PSU. Didn't think about that angle.

I convinced on the 570 over 560 too...Not much more for the performance so it'll be value for long run.

Just noticed DS offering 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB (Includes PhysX Tech) [-$62].
Any take on that?

Pretty much know zilch about sli benefits....

Btw, thank you very much for the time and help here.

Two much weaker cards or one decent card?  I'd pick the single 570.  Plus the sli 550 would use more wattage for not much or any gain in performance.

if you want the level 10 gt from digital storm just order it through betaforce.

betaforce from what i have read is just a sister company to digital storm.  so it should be built tested and shipped by the same people?
hi.
