I am starting to shop for a new computer that isn't a laptop but will behave like one in terms of transport.
I am looking for a computer that I can easily move to different rooms in my house, something that I can upgrade and obviously for playing games. Locations vary from my office on a desk to a table with me sitting on the floor next to my wife while she watches television. Currently I do both with my laptop Something quiet would be a plus, nothing louder than my laptop. Thanks!!!! Budget is flexible, 2k give or take. If I can upgrade later then I can go close to 2k, if I were to go with a laptop and I don't want to, then i would go to 3k because I couldn't upgrade later. (I don't need any accessories) Expectations, run games for a few years before needing to upgrade. Usage, 100% games that vary from Paradox titles to Total War titles Special Needs, able to move from one room to the other |

You may be still able to get an Eclipse, but you have to call up DS and see. That would be the smallest offering the DS has carried since the first Bolt several years back.

Just a few thoughts.... If all you're using it for is games, and you're using Steam for all of them, then you may wish to check out Syber. Not sure if DS offers them or not, but you might look into it. This Eclipse machine that's being recommended seems like a possibility, if available. It's small and compact, and shouldn't be be a burden to move. You also have the option of having two budget PCs built by Digital Storm, one for each room. It might be possible that DS can have a rig built that has wheels installed for a reasonable price. When I had my first PC built by a friend this option was considered. As for laptops, surely this is a viable option based on your needs, but a rather expensive one, especially if you don't plan on using it for anything but games. I've been down that road in the past and prefer to use laptops only for lighter use. |

Great points all thank you....
So....I really don't want a laptop. I am replacing an older gaming laptop currently so I really need to take that off the table. Unfortunately it might still be an option. 2 PCs will be a tough one to win the wife over on. So let me rework the question..... What if I plan on moving the computer once a week from one room to the next. I know that they don't come with handles and I also know that they are not intended as 'mobile'. I fear the answer may still be the same.... Is there a sturdier 'model' that digital storm makes? |

I'd still see if you can get an Eclipse. It would be lighter than the other computers and the GPU isn't cantilevered in an electrical connector...in fact, it also has a brace for the GPU that you can see here:

Seeing that the bolt has horizontal support and a competitor does not.....I am starting to be sold on the bolt. It would fit exceptionally well to my needs. Any ideas on the weight of the machine?
also-seems like a small upgrade to the Bolt level 3 would make sense 16GB DDR4 2800MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series [+$14] Edited by EvilMat - 28 Jun 2016 at 5:58pm |

16GB upgrade is fine.
OK so if its on hardwood then why don't you just put it on a low profile cart or any kind of a low cart. Edited by DST4ME - 28 Jun 2016 at 7:27pm |

Those are just a couple of ideas, on hardwood it should make no difference to the pc because the ride should be very smooth on a good cart.
Look around and find one you want, maybe higher, bigger etc. Whatever you pic make sure its sturdy and smooth, for example that second pic I posted looks like its not gonna be smooth and it does not look very sturdy either. Our pleasure and good luck Edited by DST4ME - 29 Jun 2016 at 12:34am |

Great choice.Congratulations. If you are lucky your system might be selected for the coveted Stage 8 testing. Good luck.
