upgrade from a 9800gx2? mabey a 5770?

   im tired of my 9800gx2 (any my 9800GT befroe i but a aftermarket heatsink on it) overheating adn causing computer to lock up. it would be mroe expensive to air cool it/water cool it then to jsut buy a new card. 

is a 5770 (or 6xxx equilivent) a great upgrade from a gx2? and i want to stick with AMD/ATI as i have never personaly owned a AMD card or cpu, even thow im a AMD fan....as i built a amd/ati computer for my mom that is 10 tiems better then my own and when i use it it works great. 

anyway, lookign at some FPS of the 2 cards, the 9800gx2 is kinda tied. that is, when SLI works on games that use SLI. 

im also so over my computer randomly locking up even thow ALL temps are under 50C and the temp i nteh room is literally 40 F. and im about 5 days away from getting a phenom 2 x4/lower x6 and callign it good for 5 years again...but as most know...bulldozer looks yummy!

anyway, gettign away from reasoning...is the 5770/6whatever faster then the 9800gx2 at 1440 by 900?  or will i see any difference besides DX11 and no micro studdering of the SLI?

P.S. ....about thows fine temp lockups, some times 30 seconds after boot, some times 3 hours, sometimes never! what could be causing it!

core 2 dua at 1.86 (90nm i think) 
2 gigs of ddr2
stock intel...like...845 north bridge?
9800gx2/9800gt...locks up on both
650? mabey 750 what antec powersupply. 

im thinking ram or to mutch powerdraw. or the north bridge overehating, as its about this far (-) from the cpu...and both of witch are hot enough to burn to the touch if you left your finger there for liek 20 sec.

but i have no extra ram. i have a 9800gt and a 300W psu for spair parts right now!  

and when the GPU over heats, it will slow the game down and i alt tab and let it cool....thats the core if i remember right....but if the memory on the GPU overheats...then it goes black, locks up, and the sound loops.

also, when im not palyign games and temps are fine, it will lock up...and i cant remember if the sound loops are not.  

AND I CAN NOT USE SPELL CORRECTING PROGRAMS ON THE SCHOOLS COMPUTERS! as tehy wont let me downlaod the IE plugin. its mainly spaces in the wrong place and letters swaped round. its easy to "decode"!

	Grab a 6850 or 6870 or a 560 if you can would be fine at that res. You might start seeing cpu bottlenecking tho.
