I'm thinking about upgrading to the 10 series of cards in a few months, or sooner, though I'm not sure which card yet...I have to weigh my options.

That said, would anyone be able to attest or at least give assurance that the Vanquish 5 case has enough clearance to fit either of these cards? I'm not really worried about anything else, my CPU and PSU are up to snuff (just got my V5 a few months ago). I've just seen the size of these cards in hand, and they are massive. I'm currently rocking the ASUS Turbo GTX 970, and it doesn't look nearly as big, and it's pretty snug in there.

I just don't want to blindly buy one, only to have it not fit, my heart cannot take such torment.

Thank you in advance!

The standard case, the Corsair 230T iirc, will have no problems with head room with the new cards.

The impulse buyer side of me has my finger hovering over the buy now button for a 1070...But the future proofing side wants me to hold off and just get a 1080 in a few months, even though I know it's currently overkill.

What's your monitor resolution ?   If it's a 1920x1080 then the gtx 1070 is all you need.   Looking 2-3 years down the road, newer cards will be out and the money saved over a gtx 1080 now you would want to use for those.

A1440 p monitor could be a gtx 1080 for max gaming and consistant 60 fps.

But, gotta do what feels right.

Currently 1080P/144hz ... But I'm actually more curious as to how the 1070 could handle, say, Witcher 3 @ ultra settings on an ultrawide (2560x1080). I'm more prone to go ultrawide over 1440 (16:9)

A case can be made for the gtx 1080 above 1920x 1080, if you want max everything with all games.   Witcher 3 maxes with a gtx 970 on a 1920x 1080, unless you turn on Hairworks,   That setting drops the frames.

Here's some comparisons..... http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1731?vs=1714

Oh I know, I currently play W3 near ultra on my 970. I don't go full ultra. I keep grass density at high, I don't use HBAO+ (using SSAO), turn hairworks off, and shadow quality is high. I could definitely run ultra with hairworks off while staying about 40 ish FPS...But I prefer the higher frame rate while sacrificing a bit of eye candy.

Thanks dudes!
