Topic: Vanquish 2 Level 4 GTX 1070 Upgrade Posted: 22 Mar 2017 at 1:00am |
Hello all,
I am putting a GTX 1070 (currently have a 770) into my Vanquish 2 Level 4 (*Current Specs will be posted below), I wanted to ask a few questions about the upgrade before I buy the card. I am considering this card https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Whisper-Graphics-08G-P4-6171-KR/dp/B01H74VTBK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1469147616&sr=8-2&keywords=08G-P4-6171-KR&th=1 I wanted to know if that would be fine for my system, connector wise. I am trying to see if the pin count is the same between my old GPU and the new one I will get or if I will need to figure something out. I am very new to doing PC hardware stuff myself, so I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me about the compatibility between my system and the new card. Also if someone could link me to a video that they would recommend me watching that may help walk me through the process (or a detailed step by step guide). Lastly, I have been considering upgrading to 16GB of RAM as well, I currently have 8GB, I just want to know if this would also be worth it. Thanks for any help I may get :) *CURRENT PC SPECS* CPU: i5-4590 @3.30 GHZ GPU: ASUS DIRECTCU II GTX 770 2GB VRAM https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121770 (for a picture of current GPU) PSU: CX600M Corsair Motherboard: ASUS H8M1 RAM: 8GB DDR3-1600MHz Storage: -120GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD - 1TB Seagate 7200rpm (64MB cache) HDD |

In My opinion-
Graphic card should be fine- -meets power requirements -board supports 16pcie 8 to 16 ram- heck ya 16-32- not necessary upgrades very easy- utube it. BUT make sure you are grounded by using a static wrist band (about 4$) |

Alright, thanks guys. I will probably hold off on the RAM till I get more money, but I am gonna go ahead and buy the 1070 before I feel guilty about spending so much money lol.
I added the anti static wrist band on my amazon order. |

Well, I went ahead and bought it and the static band. Any guides/videos would be helpful still. I will also look around for some on my own, thanks again. Looking forward to putting this thing in!

Go to View Our Support Guides where DST4ME did a nice job explaining how to install a graphics card.
To remove the old card there is a thumb lever on the front of the PCIE slot that you push down to release the card. It's shown in the pictures. Good luck. |

Here ya go.... or copy paste this -- http://www.digitalstorm.com/forums/evga-geforce-gtx-1070-tidf29320/
Unscrew the old card, push the thumb level on the PCIE slot and it will be a bit of a push.. and up pops the card. You'll see, as I did and the pictures show, that you will not need all of the old power cables, just plug in the one you need and, as my friends across the pond say... "Bob's yer uncle!". Good luck!! and PLEASE touch something metal before you stick your hands in there. You can never be too grounded. Edited by Snaike - 22 Mar 2017 at 6:30am |

Just an update: Well guys, put the 1070 in and everything works amazing. Only had time to start up one game but I already noticed a huge difference, maxed settings on everything. Thanks for all the help, it was a ton easier than I thought it would be.
