Topic: Vanquish corsair 230t fan upgrade questions Posted: 17 Mar 2015 at 2:50pm |
I recently purchased a vanquish level 4. I would like to add two fans to the top of the case. 120mm i would assume would be the best bet. Im going to go with the corsair af120s with leds. For sake of keeping the case similar looking. Also like the general performance of them so far.
Anyways onto my question if i buy two of these fans and put them up there. Where do i plug them in? From what I understand the gigabyte z97x sli only has 3 fan headers and a cpu header. That is how many fans it comes equipped with. Also as a secondary note i heard it could be plugged into the psu but would that require a molex adapter? Thanks for any help guys. |

Which confguration would be best for them? Exhaust or Intake? Im assuming intake but i have no clue. |

The hookup is like you said....to the mobo if you have the headers or to the 4 pin Molex from psu. The mobo headers give you control, the psu doesn't.
I would exhaust the fans. |

Gotcha. Is there any ability on running multiple fans on one header with a splitter? Is it safe if it is possible? I guess ill just have to check out my options. If that doesn't work ill go the molex route. Does my psu have an open molex or two for the two fans? Thanks again and sorry for the nooby questions. Yeah, I think 2 fans per header is good. I wouldn't do more than that. Not sure how many peripheral 4 pin connectors you have open but you can also multi plug those with adapters.
Have fun and let us know how it goes. |

Hi Ashrilex,
There are a couple of ways to work the fans. Exhaust as suggested by bprat22. Or, you could do the front top fan in and the back top fan exhaust. This will get a little extra fresh air to the CPU. Don't forget you could also add a fan to the bottom blowing in. Might help the GPUs a bit. The top fans can be 120 or 140. I like 140 when they will fit. Frank |
