I haven't had any issues with Norton. If you have Comcast just make sure you do not, I repeat do not, use Constant Guard which Comcast pushes.
That crap will ruin your day and it messes with many programs. Thanks, Shot

My favorite from a coverage and small resource footprint is ESET NOD32. I've heard great things about Kaspersky as well.

After getting the system restore virus on my desktop I quit a very popular brand and went with Malwarebytes Pro. It hasn't let me down and is amazingly light on the machines it protects.
I had used kaspersky but that was what didn't catch the virus that nearly killed my desktop. It took me almost two weeks and a lot of research to get my desktop back...
I could never figure out why people would spend $$$ on a computer then go cheap on protecting it...... Edited by dflyn003 - 25 Jul 2012 at 12:29pm |

Anyone using Trendmicro Titanium?
I have one (free) installation left, but I'm getting a brand new machine, so just checking first. RClive |

Does ESET do both firewall and antivirus or do you combine with Malware?

Hi Stevenash,
I use Norton Internet Security and like it a lot. You can have it do a lot or a little. If you have kids it is great to track where they go and what they search on. It has a firewall and you can adjust the level of security. I tired 360 but didn't like it. Internet Security works in the background and I seldom know it is there. I also use Malwarebyts and everyone should have that. The best protection again viruses and malware is never open a file, picture or link that comes from someone who is not know to you. You should never open an Email attachment unless you know the sender and they are the author. These jokes and similar stuff that floats around the Internet is how you pick up malware and viruses. When I do click a link and it doesn't open right away I immediately close the tab. Any time something is being downloaded into your computer and you don't know what it is, stop it immediately. Being careful about where you go and what you look at is the best protection you can get. Frank Edited by FrankW - 26 Jul 2012 at 8:39am |

I use Trend Micro on all my pc's in my house and have not had one problem. I did use Norton until my daughters laptop was attacked and Norton could not stop the virus that hit it. That is when I changed.

Eset has a security software center you can buy that is everything.
File monitoring/email/network/firewall/program monitoring - its fantastic, its intrusive and virus makers often target "free" anti-virus programs such as Avast to bypass. Go with Eset. |

Not a fan of Norton.. They tend to mess with your administrative rights and it is ridiculously hard to get rid of. Kaspersky is a good software. Though I never buy actualy anti virus software. I have Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials (Free Version). That takes care of me pretty well.
